I know it's been said here before, and I had completely forgotten this. And it bears repeating! I had a case of Costco water all set to be delivered and ordered 2 days before arrival. It didn't arrive in our room, so I called bell services, they didn't have it. They eventually tracked it down and proceeded to tell me there will be a 10.00 service fee associated with delivery, yikes! So our 12.00 case (which unfortunately Costco raised their prices), costed us 22.00. Lesson learned. We loved our stay there, but that was the only downside. Be warned!

All the convention hotels charge a receiving fee for shipped packages. If it goes in the front door/bell services (i.e., grocery delivery) there's no fee. If it goes in the back door/loading dock (i.e., UPS, etc), there's a fee.

Does BLT have a rule other DVC resorts don't??? I guess I don't get why there is a charge from BLT for your water. Did they deliver the rest of your groceries?

BLT, BCV and BWV (and CSR & GF for cash resorts) will charge this fee. They are convention center resort hotels, and shipped package receiving is contracted to an outside company that charges the fee. This is pretty standard practice for convention centers nationwide.

Grocery deliveries from Garden Grocer and Wegoshop, and Owner's Locker deliveries are not charged the fee because they are delivered to bell services, not the package receiving area.

I don't understand this. I have sent boxes to myself at BWV through UPS several times and I have never been charged a fee.

Chuck,

Is this because it is coming from Costco or would any package have a fee? I don't remember being charged when I shipped a box to BWV for myself. Just trying to figure this out for future shipments. Thanks!

It should apply to any shipped package, whether delivered directly by Costco or Staples, or UPS, FedEx or Postal Service. You simply experienced some pixie dust if you were not previously charge.

I am a BCV member, have sent the exact Costco case of water to the BC, and NEVER been charged. I think this is a CR thing. Has anyone here actually been charged for a water delivery at the BC or BW?

To the poster that asked about my other groceries, I didn't have any, I just sent water.

Perhaps it was before the changeover (when they outsourced convention services such as this). Perhaps you got lucky. I don't know - I am just stating what the policy is.

Thanks for the replies guys, like I said earlier this will be good information for future shipments.

Ditto. 3 separate occasions, 3 different years I have had UPS and Fedex deliveries to BWV and have never been charged a fee.

Here is a pdf file with the Ikon Buisiness Center charges for those resorts, including the package handling fees:

Ikon Fees

As far as I know, the incoming fee started sometime in 2009.

I get that it is a policy, but what many of us are saying here, is that we have never been charged anywhere but the Contemporary. I would like to ask again, has anyone ever had this charge applied at BC or BW?

Some of those aren't half bad. $10/sqft for wide format is pretty competitive.

My boss did in late summer 2009 at BW. There are many, many references on the boards here to this receiving fee being levied. I don't get why this is so hard to believe...if someone says they weren't charged, it was either an oversight, a bit of good fortune, or they simply didn't examine their bill closely enough to notice the charge. Here are just a few:

I have been sending packages to myself and also have had water deliveries from Staples at all DVC resorts since 2002. I was not charged anything until early 2009 and since then, have been charged at both BCV and BLT. When I questioned the charge, I was told by the CM who delivered to my room that all WDW convention hotels now charge a service charge for delivering packages which have been shipped. So......since that time......we've begun using Garden Grocer for our grocery order and water......really beats going to the grocery ourselves. I do also pack small kitchen items.....like spices (I premeasure and put them in Ziploc snack bags tucked in my bag) and coffee filters. I also have ordered travel sizes of peanut butter, jelly, salad dressing, etc. from www.minimus.biz These items tuck very nicely down the sides of a suitcase and eliminate the need to order larger sizes from Garden Grocer and then having to dispose of more than half of it when leaving.

Yikes! I'm glad I read this...I was going to send a very small box down for my trip in August...dry breakfast foods and the like, but if they charge a fee I'm probably better off just going with Garden Grocer or trying to pack things.

The problem I have with the grocery delivery services is they charge 17.00 per delivery, right? So whats the difference, 10.00 is actually cheaper if all you want is water. Ugh.
