Be advised, if you (her parent) or any adult serves a person under 21 an alcoholic beverage, you may be subjected to criminal sanctions of the state of Florida.

Further, even if your adult-child is in possession of alcohol, they too may be subjected to criminal sanctions.

Unfortunately, this is not a joke.

But if you'd like to buy a rifle……or handgun with 72 hour waiting period…..no worries.

I was a bartender in Fl in the 70's. If you served a minor you could be charged and lose your PIC license. This is FLORIDA and you must obey the law HERE even if you are a parent giving it to your underage child.

PLEASE do not encourage anyone to break the law in FLORIDA!

If a guest shared an alcoholic beverage with someone underage, that I served them and I didn't report it immediately to my manager I would absolutely lose my job. Guests need to know that and I have no problem reporting them so it is my business

Does it really matter since OP asked about drinking at Disney, in Florida? How are the drinking laws in other states relevant to this question?
When someone travels from overseas to the US for vacation, it isn't necessarily safe to assume that their only destination will be Florida. So we shouldn't mislead them into thinking that the laws are consistent throughout the country. Besides--other people may search for information in the future and come upon this thread. So even if the information may not be specific to the OP, it may prove useful to others. More information is always better than less in that regard. Why do you feel the need to be critical?

IMO it is simply not right that a british citizen of 19 years of age cannot have a pint of the amber at Rose and Crown

Oh, I agree the drinking laws in Florida (to keep it clear they vary by state) are not fair.
But they are in existence and just not liking them is not a valid reason to break them

OP - Don't try to buy her a drink in public. What you do in the privacy of your room is none of our business. I hope that you have a great trip.

I have edited several posts I deleted quoted post for being argumentative.

In Wisconsin, the law is that "Underage consumption of alcohol is allowed if accompanied by parent or legal guardian."
I thought every state followed this same guideline and was about to post that the daughter should be able to have a drink in the presence of her parents, but looked up the drinking laws before posting. Florida has very strict minor alcohol laws and does not allow alcohol consumption by a minor under any circumstances, except for "tasting for educational purposes". I wish I had known that before I shared my wine cooler with DD18 at Universal in May.:rolleyes1
Sounds educational to me... ;)

hi, we are from the UK, my DD is 19 and she is wondering how the law stands with drinking alcohol with a meal whilst on Disney property. we have a meal booked at Boma and F & W will be on while we are there.

cal

Hi! We have family from the UK who visit Florida often and we live here as well.

Minors under the age of 21 are not permitted to purchase, possess, or consume alcohol from an establishment or store.

At worst, you could get into serious legal trouble attempting. At worst, the server gets arrested and the establishment loses its liqour license.

While unfortunate that it differs from what she is accustomed to, I hope she enjoys her time her anyway.

I am...surprised that a religious exemption is not included in the statute. Religion is only covered in regards to distribution regulation. But, sacramental wine is offered without issue to minors by churches that practice it.

Here is the enforcement part or the statute. There are two that apply to people under 21: a section on purchase/consumption, and a section on possession.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am Canadian, and the legal age to drink here is 19. We had to remember that while traveling when I was 19 and 20 to the States! Unfortunately, the law is that she cannot drink unless 21, no ands, ifs or buts about it :) Wonder if that law stands in the Canadian Pavillion ;) I kid I kid! Enjoy your trip nontheless!!! Sooooo many great mocktails to enjoy as well, I often opt for those despite being 29!

No to quibble too far but in Canada it can be 18 or 19 depending on the province... But yes that was important to remember on the trips I took after I celebrated those birthdays.
