I just place my second order from GG and this order included a bottle of liquor. I order a 750ml bottle of Absolut Vodka. This bottle at a liquor store is usually priced at $20-$25. GG called me for payment and charged me $44.00 for this bottle of Vodka:scared1:. I know this is cheaper than WDW but I didn't expect to pay so much. Are these liquor prices normal for GG? Is there anywhere cheaper to order liquor? Thanks.

Wow, what does WDW normally charge? I've always brought my own so never tried to purchase any on-site before

Sounds high to me but GG has to go to a liquor store to purchase this since they don't sell liquor themselves. You are paying a premium for that service.

You're right. They are making a very nice profit off of liquor sales. My order included the Vodka, 2 gal milk, 2 boxes cereal, 24 pk water, 24 pk diet coke, 1 gal OJ, 1 pk bagels and 8oz cream cheese and the total was $140. So they are making a nice profit off of everything. This is our last time to fly to WDW for a while. Next trip we will have our vehicle so I won't have to pay these crazy prices.

Holy cow. :scared1: Was thinking of using them for April to save our time but that's crazy. I found their prices to be very inflated. I looked at wegoshop and they will shop at the store you want (Super WalMart for example) so their prices aren't inflated.

Oh and I forgot the $6.99 can of Lysol. :lmao: I like to disinfect the room when I get there.

I have always found wegoshop.com to be cheaper. They charge you exactly what the store charges them. They actually give you the store receipt at delivery. Garden Grocer marks each item up.
However, wegoshop.com's delivery fee is higher than Garden Grocer. I have not done a comparison, but it probabaly equals out.
That said, in the past we definitely saved the wegoshop delivery fee over buying the same items on site. Plus there service is great and the convenience can not be beat.
I recommend wegoshop.com heartily.

Last time we went down (January) we were going to use Magical Express and then order groceries. We looked at the prices to order (and the surcharges) and decided that it was MUCH cheaper to rent a car for the weekend and get our own groceries. Plus then we had transportation available when we wanted it. YMMV, but don't discount doing your own shopping.

I have ordered cases of beer through them several times and the price was close to what I pay in PA. I thought they told me they were not allowed by Fl law to mark up the price, but maybe that is just for beer.

Wow!! At first I was thinking... yay, GG does liquor now... but then I read further. Geese!! What a rip off. I don't care if it's a convenience.

We stayed at SSR, DH and DB walked over to Downtown Disney then took a city bus to the nearest liquor store. Which probably wont happen again, but they said it was a nice outing :lmao:

We usually buy two large bottles of rum and put one in our Owners Locker for the next trip.

We went down in Jan and used GG, I did'nt think the prices where that crazy. I bought a ton of stuff, meats ,frozen foods 3 gals of milk, mostly breakfast and dinner foods and my bill was about $200. that was for six people. My wife ordered a 4ltr box of wine and I think it was about $18, not much different than we'd pay here. We've used them several times and will probably use them again.

That's a reasonable price for the wine. I don't know why they are charging so much for liquor. I wonder if it's just more expensive in FL?

$44 sounds excessive for 750ml.

Is GG charging you for 1.75L bottle ??

:)

No, I called them today again to verify the price and size of the bottle. It is a 750ml bottle of Absolut that cost $44. It's a good thing I didn't order Grey Goose I would have to take out a loan to afford it.

Don't forget tax and delivery fee. I believe if a different store is required - so another delivery fee.

Why dont you just fedex or UPS it ahead? it is so much less. You cant do it through USPS, but FE and UPS are both an option.

We used WEGO shop in December and ordered liquor. It was the cheapest liquor store that we've ever gotten anything from in the Disney area. Seagrams 7 was $17.99, liquor stores we've frequented charged $24.99.

If you got the time you might as well just rent a car for the day and get your own stuff. That is what we am going to do in August. Granted we go for two weeks so we have the time to go shopping and the amount of stuff we buy makes up for the price differences. We are renting the car from the Alamo at Buena Vistsa Palace for $47 for the day and whatever it will cost to fill up the tank.

Your food items from GG are about $47, the rest must be tax/del/tip etc?

Since you ordered the alcohol, yes they must travel to a liquor store which is a separate delivery, tax and tip charge. When we travel to WDW, if we want alcohol in the room and don't have a car, we just purchase something at the resort gift shop.

We have used Garden Grocer a few times in the past and will definitely continue to use them. I have found the overall experience to be excellent, the price was very reasonable for a grocery delivery service and they were efficient, accurate and prompt.

I actually had compared them to Wego and the bottom line pricing was similar for what I was looking to order. The difference is, I believe, that you can have Garden Grocer leave the order with Bell Services, but Wegoshop requires you to be present to accept the delivery.

We have had good reports on both services here on the DIS in the past. :)
