I was reading on one of the boards about this kid's activity. They said it was in the YC/BC resort area. Does anyone know if it is an activity at that resort? And, if not, where it is as well as what it is about and the cost. We tried the GF Pirate Cruise and it wasn't a hit but this sounded like it might be. Thanks for any info.

I'm interested in this, too! I couldn't find anything on Deb's site. Any details? :flower:

Hi ....I just booked the cruise today for my 2 DS's. From what I understand, this is a cruise that leaves from the YC marina. It's a sort of treasure hunt for kids 4-10 (no adults allowed). It costs about $28. We did pirate cruise last trip, but due to Hurricane Jeanne, it ended up being a treasure hunt around the grounds of the GF. Hope this helps.

Albatross Treasure Cruise for ages 4-10 -- Children will wear bandannas as they follow clues and sail to many exotic "ports of call" around Crescent Lake and Epcot looking for treasure. During the voyage, children will hear a reading of "The Legend of the Albatross." At the final port of call, children will have lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice box, and will split up the "buried treasure." Held Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Children must be potty trained -- no pull-ups. Price is $28.17 plus tax per child. Reservations are recommended. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

When I called to book the Pirate Cruise, the CM told me that the Yacht Club version was the same thing. The only difference is the location.

Don't know if it's true, but that was her claim! :confused3

My boys did the Albatross Pirate Cruise in September. They loved it. They talked about it for days. They are 7 years old.

Our boys ages 4 and 8, did it in August and LOVED it. I think it was about $60 for both of them. We parked at the Yacht Club and walked through the lobby to the marina. We were told to be there a good 15 minutes early (we wanted to be extra safe and showed up a half hour early), but no one really showed up until about 5 minutes before the cruise was supposed to begin. We really weren't positive where we were supposed to meet, and walked up and down the area looking for someone to ask. We found some staff at a pearl shop on the sand near the large pirate ship pool and they only knew they had a pirate cruise, not where it was located. We finally found the correct location...which is right at the boat rental stand (there's a replica of one of the rental boats that the kids could sit in and pretend to drive). They even had 4 kids scheduled not show up, and we waited about 10 minutes after the supposed starting time to make sure those 4 just weren't late. They ended up being a little longer than scheduled to make up for the missed time. The sky was quite dark and it looked like it was going to pour, but it cleared up within minutes and ended up being sunny and beautiful.
The kids all put on name tags, bandanas on their heads (parents and CM helped), and life jackets, boarded the boat and set off on their first clue. They were collecting clues to find out where they would find the final treasure. The kids were all so cute. My husband and I watched them sail off and walked to the Boardwalk for a quick breakfast and then to Epcot. We were just strolling along near England/Canada, when the group showed up in Canada to find another clue. We didn't want our 2 boys to see us, so we stayed put behind a tree until they left. They were all yelling "argh!" and other pirate lingo. I think they ate their lunch there and sailed off again. My son later told me they had uncrustable type peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a chocolate chip cookie and a sports drink. We took the boat from Epcot back to the Yacht Club in time to see them shore up at the pirate ship pool. We were on the dock where they'd return, and I got some really great pictures of them at that location. When they came back they all had some pirate loot (rings, necklaces, mini telescope, mini pirate chest, chocolate coins, etc), and smiles on their faces. The CM's were really good with all the kids the entire time. I gave my oldest son a disposable camera (I asked the CM's first if it was o.k) to take along and take pictures of whatever they were doing if he wanted to. He took only 8, so we have yet to finish that roll or get them developed. I'm sure they will be a great additionto our trip scrapbook and to see the pirate experience from his eyes. We almost took the boat from the Yacht Club to MGM, but we had to go back to the rental car anyway (back pack, stroller, etc) so we ended up just driving. We got there by our 11:50 ADR for sci-fi.
I really would recommend this trip...I know my boys would love to go again.

I forgot to add...it took me until about 2 days before our trip to get a space for both of my boys in this program. I had tried at least 2 months and they were always booked. I was hoping there would be a cancelation and didn't get it until that last pre- vacation week. I suggest either booking as soon as you decide to do it or to keep on trying for an open spot. They only had once space available the 4 days it was offered during our trip at the Grand Floridian. I didn't want to send just one of them on the trip, and was glad when I finally got them both in.

Thanks, Tammi. I looked all over the site last night and for some reason, couldn't find anything on this. Glad you posted it :flower:

Thanks so much for the great description Hanover. I've scheduled my niece for that the last Friday we're there, which is exactly 3 weeks from TODAY. It will be the last activity for her before we leave. I AM JUST SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS TRIP. Between this, the My Disney Girl Princess Tea, and all the Princess meals, plus the "usual" Disney stuff, I'm SO pysched. (Can you tell I've raised two BOYS!!!) They sure would have liked this when they were little!!! It sounds like it's really something to keep in mind when Mom's ask about what to do special with boys. Thanks again, I'm going to e-mail this description to my SIL.

Thanks, Hanover, for this great description! :cheer2: When I finalize the dates for our next trip, I hope there's room for my son to join in

My daughter attended the Albatross Cruise twice during our Summer vacation. This week I put photos that she took into an on-line album (photos from both of the cruises are in that album, one set is listed right after the other). I don't have captions on those photos yet, and I won't get a chance to rearrange/delete photos in that album for a few days. For now, I hope they at least give you a small glimpse of what the cruise is like.

Click here for the Albatross Cruise photo album. pirate:

Janet, thanks so much for the neat pictures!!! This looks like SO much fun!!! Can't wait. Although, then it will be our last morning, there, a nice way to end though I think!!!

I found photos that I had taken before the Albatross Cruise began (and also as it ended). I just put those photos into the same on-line photo album: click here (the photos are at the beginning of the album for now). I apologize that I haven't had time yet to organize the photos in that album. I hope to get around to doing so this weekend.

So is the albatross cruise on Wednesdays or Fridays? Allears says Wednesdays but I've read on here before (even earlier on this thread) that it's on Fridays. Or is it offered both? Anyone know for sure? :confused3

Eeyore2003,

I too have a DS and the first year I took my Dniece with us, we had a spa day at the Grand Floridian. I do not know how old your niece is but it is a fun experience for the girls. She has My First Facial, Manicure and Pedicure and she just LOVED it. Now it is traditon that we have a spa treatment every year when we go. (We also go to Afternoon Tea on the same day).

Enjoy,

My two DS are going on the albatross cruise on a Wednesday in January. I think that is the only day it is offered. The pirate cruise at the Grand Floridian is offered several different days.

They added Fridays a few months ago, DS is going on it 4 weeks from today.

My kids just did it. They enjoyed the GF one at four and five, at seven this one was now "hokey" - age thing, not location. It was still charming for the six year old.
