My best friend and I are celebrating our birthdays this weekend, and I wanted to put together a “cruise pack” for her. She is leaving next month for an Alaskan Cruise with her family, and I thought it would be fun to buy a beach bag and fill it with some fun things to bring on the cruise. I’ve been on 5 cruises, but they were all with Disney, and therefore all to the Caribbean. I have not been to Alaska – although, it is one of my dream destinations.

So, that’s where you guys come in…. for those of you who have been to Alaska, or on an Alaskan Cruise, or even those who are creative without experience, help me fill her pack with things she will need, want, or just have fun with on the cruise.

Go DIS Go!!!!

How nice of you to do this for her. I'm going to Alaska in June myself

binoculars,
rain poncho,
umbrella,
film, film, more film,
hot chocolate mix (especially if your friend has a favorite flavor)

We went a couple Julys ago, and I really wished I had thought to bring mittens. And thicker socks! Maybe a pretty necklace or a set of sparkly earrings for the fancy dinners. Does she like to read? A book about Alaska or a novel that takes place in Alaska would make good reading on deck (or in your warm bed with cocoa).

1) A good Kate Shugak mystery novel by Dana Stabenow
2) An atlas or map of Alaska so she can keep track of where she is
3) Binoculars
4) Bottle of Skin So Soft for bug repelling (although they wont be too bad that time of the summer)
5) A travel journal and nice pen
6) Luggage tags or some decorative item that will make THEIR black rolling suitcase stand out from the 6,000 other rolling black suitcases
7) Warm socks was a good idea, also a hat with a brim to keep the rain off her face
8) Suntan lotion and sunglasses (no one ever thinks of this, but you need it!) :smooth:

We went on an Alaska cruise 3 years ago in June and it was awesome. The weather was in the 60's for the most part, except when the ship went to the glaciers.

Binoculars are a must!
Hats and gloves
Film or depending on the camera, a memory card. We took 11 rolls of film for a 1 week cruise, 1 of which was in black and white. Those came out sooo nice!
Gift certificate to CVS, WalMart, Walgreens so they can develop film
Nice frame for pictures

Have fun!!!
