Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Am I crazy for wanting to cancel my Palo brunch? I have eaten there before and know how wonderful it is, but don't know if I want to keep the reservation. We have an 11:00 reservation on the Tracy Arm, and I don't think I want to be inside a restaurant as we head into the fjord. Plus, while I'm sure the brunch is better than the barbeque lunch served on deck, I don't really want to miss it (the bbq) because it's something I haven't tried before! So, any thoughts? I know a lot of you have brunch on Tracy Arm day. Are you sticking with your Palo plans? One more thing, we do have Palo reservations for dinner that I plan to keep.

I did just go ahead and book a couples massage today. Kind of excited about that!:woohoo:

On the other hand, the view from inside Palo is the best on the ship. I have no intention of canceling brunch reservations that day.

Is brunch offered on the other at sea days as well?

I agree the view is nice from Palo but isn't there a possibility there will be people standing outside the Palo windows blocking of the view?

that's a good point....I have Palo I think on the first or last sea day....for Brunch. Not sure cant remember. Might be the first sea day because I was thinking it would be a nice way to start off the cruise and my boys will for sure be sleeping in that morning.

I love Brunch at Palos.....it is sooooooooo yummy and love to start my morning with a Mimosa :rolleyes1:littleangel:

Hi All!

I too hope everyone had a great weekend. I went to a birthday party for a dear friend with my DH and we both had a terrific time. I made the birthday cake (the one with the telescope and gumpaste people) and it was not only well received it also tasted pretty good as well so I was very pleased overall.

I got my PM from our Fearless FE Leader Kim and have responded to her but I am going to post the info that I have here as well :-)

I have some cabin numbers to add to things, actually everyone in my group's except my DH and me :rotfl:. We are still waiting for our guarantee assignment and I am really hoping for Pixie Dust but will be happy for whatever cabin we get.

Here are the cabins I have to add:
Ron & Jane & Nathan & Emily #7020
Susan & Larry #8548
Barrett & Ken & Serena & Chad #2100

Now that our parking reservation is confirmed I am really just sitting here chewing my nails and counting down the days until we get to the ship. I have also been enjoying reading the early reports for our pioneer sailors.

One thing I am a bit bummed about is the fact that my beautiful evening gown will probably be missing yet another cruise. I finally tried it on and it doesn't fit :-(. I am also thinking that I might want something with sleeves especially because I want to actually be comfortable if the DH and I want to take a walk on the deck without my freezing to death.

I hope everyone else is having a better time with their formal clothes thanI have been.

On other fronts, I have been working on FE's and that has been fun and I am looking forward to enjoying everyone else's creativity.

Well, I think my lunch is ready so I had better write off.

Take care all, help lots of people, and have a "Wonder"ful week!

Tisza

Can you please check page one and see what I put down for cabins and anniversaries....I want to be sure that I did it correctly because not sure whos anniversary is what and do you not have your cabin # yet? Thanks:goodvibes

Hi everyone.....so I am sure that I am mot the only one that is starting to get excited about how close we are getting :woohoo::dance3::yay::cool1: Seems that so much of my time is getting online and finishing up what I need to book.....I am all booked for Alaska but still need to finish booking for Vancouver and Whistler.....that is like the whitewater rafting, buses and stuff like that. Hotels have been booked for awhile.

I just cant seem to make my mind up on what to do. White water rafting yes....for sure....but do we do the ATV...or do a sunset ride and tour in a Hummer ....why do things have to be so stupid expensive....I always feel like everyone is out to make a huge profit. I am all for that but I just don't like it :lmao: after all....if ya don't want to spend it don't go right pirate:

This trip better be all that because it is costing a arm and a leg....and half of my other leg......if it keeps getting more expensive I may end up disappearing all together because I wont have any arms, legs or body or anything left :upsidedow

Got my Cameras cleaned and fixed....cost me $69 for my regular camera and $180 for my Video camera to have it cleaned inside and out and a few things tweaked....cheaper than buying new ones I guess....but $149 for a cleaning(he takes the whole thing apart and resembles it) and $20 bucks for parts. does anyone have a money tree I can borrow?????:confused3 just a little one maybe :lmao:

I've been trying to plan our before and after cruise, too. We think we're going to take a coach bus from Vancouver to Victoria after the cruise. Then take the coach back to the airport so we don't have to rent a car. It seems that most things in Victoria are within walking distance from our hotel. Next is planning on what to do in Vancouver. I've been working on this for two days and finally feel like I'm making some progress. About that money tree........:rotfl2:

Hi All!

I shall echo the HAPPY 60 DAY wishes to all. All day long I have been glancing at the clock and thinking that in 60 days from now at this time we will be... I also decided just for fits and giggles, to go back to the beginning of this thread and read everything from the first post on down to today. Interesting stuff.

Lots of new babies, lots of visits to DL, WDW and the Studio, lots talk of rain, snow earthquakes, and a strange obsession by some about sardines :rotfl:. And after all that reading what have I discovered? Well... I'll tell ya... What I have come to realize is that Tom, Robin, Kim, Sharon and Dave are very funny folks and that if I have the time necessary to read through hundreds and hundreds of posts past I SERIOUSLY need to get a life!

On another front, my parking reservation is finally not only fully reserved but also now fully paid for as well, which is a great relief. I have been doing some reading about the bug situation in Alaska at the time we will be there and it seems that there are some nasty lil buggers called No-See-Um's (seriously!) which are the teensy tiny gnat like things with a bite that packs a whallop. It appears that you need to use a repellant with DEET in it in the highest concentration you can find.

Of course, here's the rub, DEET is really nasty stuff, toxic actually, but it works. I did find some that is 98% DEET which is about as strong as I think it gets. The challenge is that you are not supposed to keep this stuff on your skin any longer than you have to and you are not supposed to wear clothing which has been exposed to DEET without washing it after the exposure. This would make packing for the trip troublesome since I really don't want to spend time doing laundry aboard the ship.

Heck, I don't want to spend time doing laundry when I am in my home but I am concerned about being eaten alive so... I may wind up having to buy the nasty, toxic stuff and hope for the best.

I was a bit disappointed today because I had six folks cancel a photo shoot I was doing for them. I am trying to save every penny I can get my grubby little mitts on in preparation for our trip so losing this booking was really a bummer. Hopefully, something else will pop up to take its place.

On yet another front, I am eagerly anticipating the Memorial Day sale at Joann's because they will have a bunch of fabrics on sale at 50% off so I will finally be able to get the parts I need to make our FE. I am anxious to get that project completed.

I hope everyone has had a great week and that you will all have a fun weekend.

Sorry for the disjointed nature of this post. I have been going in twenty different directions and it appears to really show in my writing right now.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Deet...YUCK! I was just reading in a magazine that bugs hate Vanilla....they give directions on how t make it and keep it in a spray bottle. I have heard of this before ans was thinking as I was reading it if there were bugs in Alaska at the time we are going. I will have to find it and post it and you be the judge.

DH has some customers that live in Alaska...I will ask him to ask them :thumbsup2

I cant wait for thi,s trip yet on the other hand I don't want it to come to fast because than after 3 years of waiting it will all be over. I wish the cruise was at least 10 days....7 days is so stupid fast....no sooner do you start to get into it than it is over...at least with the 10 or 14 day cruises...after 7 days you still have 7 days left.....kinda like a due over......sure love those long cruises. Wont be doing that for at least 4 years when boys boys are gone away to college.

But i can still dream. sure wish they would do the long ones like that in the summer....instead of the school year.
Thought some of you may be interested in this restaurant...
Already on my radar for months now!!!! :thumbsup2 Allen & I will be at Tracy's Crab Shack as soon as we're done with our Mendenhall Glacier/Rain Forest excursion. Poor Allen might have to wheel me back to the ship for a nap due to the food induced coma. :rotfl:

May has been a frustrating & busy month for us. It's been touch & go whether our intelligent twins were going to graduate High School or not. Bad choices did put them in jeopardy of not graduating but it looks like a go.

Next Friday will be their graduation ceremonies & I will be proud of them. I will also be thankful & ready to breathe a sigh of relief. Ahhhh! :goodvibes

AND we leave for our trip in just 7 weeks from tomorrow. Do I need to start packing soon? :confused3 How soon before everyone leaves for their Alaskan Adventure are you planning on pulling out the luggage????
