Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

I just went back in & looked. The Bering Sea Crab Fishermans Tour is listed as 3:45 -7:45 pm. Not sure how that works out because our itinerary posts that we leave Ketchikan @ 7:30 pm. :confused3

Thanks for checking! I'm really on the fence about Ketchikan. I've heard great things about that excursion, but I also want to be able to enjoy the town without rushing. I was hoping that it started a little later than it does; not sure if a 3:45 start will give me enough time in town. Hmmm...what to do??:confused3

We're doing the Misty Fjords Boat & Floatplane Adventure. It's time is 3:30-7:30 pm. Before that DH & I want to explore some of the town too. I've heard good things about the tour you're looking @ too, but it doesn't really interest me.

We're booked on that one too. I hope we'll have some time to explore Ketchikan. Is it easy to do on your own? Not sure how much time we'll have

Robin, thanks for posting all the upcoming new DCL itinerarys! They look interesting!

Just got done booking our shore excursions, Palo & Spa ressies. Did get everything we wanted & only one thing did we have to decide on a different time than we wanted.

I'm also rethinking main dining. It seems that we'll rarely be there for our schedule dining time.

Glad you got what you wanted....still have not decided yet what the heck we are going to do...guess we best get to deciding. Wont be anything really expensive I dont think. We will be doing lots of fun stuff in Whistler the first 5 days prior the cruise and stuff in Vancouver so we are looking forward to that.

We are also not great at doing excursions that are real early in the morning....we stay up late and sleep in till at least 9am so will be later stuff....our main thing is getting Palo on a sea day....and we like the brunch and never have had a problem with getting that before...

Are you on the 3:30 one (they have it @ 2 pm also)? I thought the later one would give us more time to explore the town which I think is small but I could be wrong. Funny I have some distant relatives who live in Ketchikan but I haven't contacted them because they probably wouldn't know who I am.

I was working on numbers for our FE gifts and had a couple of questions.

1goofy is in cabin 7062

Does 1goofy have a first name other than "me" (which is what's on the FE list). :)

OK, only the kids in our group will participate in the FE exchange, if that is OK:

mootmoot
Cabin #2504
Ryann (girl, age 7)

huihuij
Cabin #2502
Emily (girl, age 8)

Thanks!!

I don't understand what this means? What if someone is only doing gifts for the entire cabin? Are they only giving gifts to other kids? Is this even allowed in the "Unofficial FE Handbook"?? :confused3

Hi All,

Please delete my friends Stephanie, Ron, Elizabeth and William Joseph from the FE exchange. Unfortunately due to illness they had to cancel their trip.

I still don't have cabin numbers yet but will try to get them asap. Since the dDH and I are travelling guarantee we probably won't know where we will be hanging our hats till we get closer to our departure date.

I did note that there doesn't seem to be much still available on our cruise so I don't know if that will bode well or ill as far as hoping for a pixie dust upgrade goes but I shall keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Fortunately my oldest stepson's wedding went off without a hitch a week ago Saturday and with that out of the way I can now put some serious time into planning for the cruise.

I will breathe a huge sigh of relief when we get our passports in hand. I will also breathe a huge sigh of relief when the cold I have had for going on a week now finally goes away. I hate coughing although I have had so much practice of late that I am getting pretty good at it.

Oh, and I read in the Passporter Guide to Disney Cruises that if your reservation is linked to others in a group and someone in the group gets ressies for Palo that it can stop others in the group from being able to get them themselves. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Please let me know.

Hmm I wonder what will happen if I take my next dose of cough syrup one hour early... Hopefully the side affects won't involve anything serious like seeing pink elephants or growing horns, but I have always liked Dumbo and I can always wear a hat so...

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Tisza

Removed them from my list.

Hope you are feeling better!

I am not sure how it would work only having the kids...I was thinking about that too. It probably wouldn't work, would only make sense for the whole cabin to do it or nobody. What is the participants view?

For us, we just count up the state room numbers on the FE list - making an assumption that if the number is there, then they will have an FE hanging. Then we come up with gifts that could be for anyone (if we do candy, we do try to include at least one piece per person listed for the room). It just gets too confusing :confused3 for me to keep track of who (adults and/or kids) are in each room.

Hi All!

Thanks for making the adjustments to my FE group.

And speaking of FE's... I shall weigh in on the just the kids versus just the adults versus just the owners of lefthanded-three-handled-family-gredunza's participating. I say do what works for you, do for some or do for all, either way you choose to play won't affect me because this is what I am planning to do.

I will do something for everyone who I know is participating whether young or young at heart. I don't plan on spending a fortune, nor do I plan on making myself crazy, but the act of doing the gifts themselves is fun for me. Therefore, I shall selfishly induldge myself.

I look forward to seeing what others come up with because I love seeing creativity. I kind of look at this like some look at holiday gifting. In some homes once you reach a certain age you no longer receive gifts and that works for them and their families. In my family however you are never too old to graciously give or recieve and the value of the gift is weighed against the sentiment of the gifter not the monetary value of the item.

Bottom line, and perhaps I would feel differently if there were hundreds of people in our group (but in my case I don't think I would:-), I will do for all I know about and will probably have a few extras (since I was always the kid who was left out or forgotten by others so I live in fear of doing that to someone else) for those that I don't know about or for those who join really late.

That being said, Whilst I look forward to seeing what shows up in my Fish Extender the fun you folks have already given me by allowing me to have this little project to work on for the year and a half that I have been anxiously planning, preparing for and dreaming about this trip is worth more to me than anything I could possibly receive. And much more than it will cost me to play.

Good heavens, I just looked at the time, I only have about three months left... I had better get cracking! Now let's see, I need to start making magnets for our door, work on my FE goodies, make my FE, hmmm... I wonder if it is too soon to start packing...

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Well I think i have my excursions picked out....I think  it may change however....so many excursions to choose from and so many so expensive.

So here is what we have so far....

Skagway 12-5 (if that is the time) "White Pass railway" with the panning for gold added on....

Juneau 12-4 (also if is correct time) "The Enchanted Taku glacier lodge flight and feast

Ketchikan 12:15- 5:15 Bering Sea Crab Disney Exclusive Crab fisherman Tour and dinner.

total cost for all 3...a whopping $3100 bucks :scared1::eek::scared1::eek: Didnt want to spend that much at all but well....

I am still stymied on the cost of stuff...and the same goes for Whistler Canada for the excursions...where we will be white water rafting and taking the Gondola up for dinner and either biking or jeep touring....we were going to take the train up to Whistler but since we decided to take the train as an Alaskan excursion we are going to take the greyhound up and back instead.

I have only gotten sea sick 2 times in my life and so am hoping this does not happen again on the boat....so i will get the patch if they say I can take it woith my epilepcy. Funny I can go out in a speed boat all day long but get me on a bigger boat I got sick...but only 2 times.

So what has everyone else been looking at.

Can someone check the times for me on the 3 excursions I picked...I am having trouble logging on and DCL has been no help on fixing it yet....I am mad because I should be able to book....:sad2:

102 days to go!! Maybe we should have a party on Sunday!!

That is....IF we get our Passports in time. We've been putting it off and finally decided to go apply on Saturday (special hours this Saturday), but if the goverment shuts down, we're in BIG trouble. :scared1:

OMG Tom, I didn't even think of that!! I was going through our "travel box" the other day and came across our passports and I looked, and my husbands expires on the 26th of April :scared1: I could have sworn that we were good, so I just mailed his in on like Wednesday to be renewed. I sure hope we get it or daddy isn't going with us!

I am trying to get flights done. Is a flight that leaves Vancouver at 11 on the 26th too early? i do not want to cut it too close.

Excursions are coming up - getting excited to select!

And before Alaska it is back to Disneyland for Star Tours...

Star Tours, Alaska Cruise and Expo - it is a Disney Year

Wouldn't worry about it. The turnaround time after submission is pretty quick these days, usually 2-3 weeks. Even with a short shutdown (and it won't be long, if it happens at all), there should be plenty of time.
