This is a graduation celebration trip for my son and his best friend. Also, my DMIL will be celebrating a birthday 5/28.

Just getting started on really planning this trip. Looks like the airfare from Louisiana is going to be an horrendous expense.

Wow.. You do have a large group.. Cool and congrats on the DS moving on up to the next education level. Looking forward to seeing you and your crew at a meet and greet we can schedule later.. DISer's together, maybe not fair weather, but still time together..:grouphug:

Fish externders can be found on Ebay listed under Disney fish extenders.. We made one out of Felt, a wooden dowel and put out names in glitter ink on the fromt for id.. They hang outside your door and friends or DISer's will put something in them every day.. It's fun to get a little somthing different every day( magnet, shot glass, kids things, etc... Hope this helps. Names are fine just remember not to put ages on there..

We're new to the DIS group, but will be on this cruise. Yippeee!

We're on deck 7. me- 44, dh- 50, ds17, dd 9. Second cruise for the adults, but first for the kids. Hubby and I will be celebrating our 22nd anniversary!

For those booking flights (from Hawaii $149 one way direct) try flying into Bellingham. I saw an ad this week in the paper on Alaskan Airlines. Vancouver natives fly into Bellingham as it is cheaper than Vancouver because of taxes.

For those flying into Seattle or Bellingham consider Amtrak instead of the bus. It is cheaper. On the bus you have to completely unload and go through security at the border northbound.

The daily train gets into Vancouver around 11 am a few blocks from Canada Place. Take the Sky trail (exact name escapes me, it's like an elevated subway) to about a block away or a 10-15 minute cab ride.

We're either driving up and parking or taking Amtrak up the day of. Haven't decided yet.

Anyone planning on spending a few days in Seattle (and north to Everett) with questions on what to do let me know. We live near Seattle so could advise on what is good and what is a tourist trap.

There is a Seattle unit of the Klondike Gold Rush National Park and the Underground Tour that tie in nicely to a trip to Alaska. Also the Space Needle, EMP, Pacific Science Center, boats for the Deadliest Catch, Fish Market etc.

Also some nice possibilities of seeing Orcas in May out of Everett.
I recommend the Boeing tour in Everett also (The Dreamlifter is really cool to see and there are 787's all over the place for the "little" boys. Okay, hubby will be happy I gave a plug for his favorite airplane.)

Look forward to getting to know everyone.

My DH, DD8, and I will also be on this cruise. We are coming from the East coast and it is so expensive to fly into Vancouver. We could save so much money by flying into Seattle, but it may take a lot of planning. We were putting heavy consideration into flying into Seattle two days before the cruise and staying overnight in Seattle. Taking the Amtrak to Vancouver the day before the cruise and staying the night in Vancouver. Our concern is that the additional nights in a hotel may make it easier and about the same price as flying into Vancouver. Any advice?

Hi Tearem
I read your post and we live outside Dallas, TX. We are now considering driving to Seattle 2 day pre-cruise and the driving to the terminal or staying in Vancouver and leaving the car in a garage hotel and taking the shuttle to the Canada Lace terminal area for the Wonder.. Don't know anything about the area. There is so much info on the web and it is numbing sometimes to absorb it all..I will be able to book my excursions soon in Feb. We had planned on flying into Vancouver but the price of Flight keep going up with all the little hidden fees. Southwest flys out of Dallas and they don't charge you bag fees but only go up to Seattle.. I have to check insurance to see if they would cover us in a rental in Canada, they should but you never know. Welcome Aboard.

Happy New Year, everyone !

Made my final payment today.

We won't have fish extenders.

Looked at the shore excursions...they sure are pricey !

This'll be my 4th Alaska cruise...so I think we'll just be shopping.

Cruisingly Yours

Hi everyone
thought everyone would like to hear the news of the new section on the ship.. Sounds like a good place for a meet and greet prior to sailing?

To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Café was added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Café is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Café is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Café with the existing Cove Café one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

My husband, Steve, and I intended to sail DCL to Alaska in August but there was no availability left for DVC rooms by the time we called so we're boarding May 24 with you guys! :) We're in room #6089 and thinking about participating with FEs but don't really know much about them. I get the concept but not sure what type of gifts are expected. This will only be our 2nd cruise (just got off the Magic last week). Looking forward to getting to know everyone! --Amy

Hi Amy:surfweb:

Welcome to our merry band of pirates.. pirate:
On our last cruise we would have little things for the kids who were participating in the DISer's and little things like shot glasses or magnets from your home state or city.. Dish towels, watches (wait that's not right) You know even little trinkets . I will add you to the list when I update it.. I am under the weather as of right now and will probably not be online the next couple of days.. Looking forward to meeting you.. :grouphug:

Is anyone organizing FE for our cruise. We didn't participate on the PC but our DD did, seemed like a ton of fun. We live very close to Skagway and there is a tourist information publication booklet put out for the area. I plan on picking up some of these to share with others on our cruise.
