It would depend on how long the ship is in port, and how long each excursion is.

Private tours is often the answer, we did six private tours in three ports. We booked everything ourselves direct. DCL will require a time buffer between their tours which depending when thry start often makes it impossible.

Haven't done either of these but it would make more sense to me to see the unique, breathtaking sights of Alaska rather than a staged show.
