Alaska Dining Rotation 2024

Regarding the food quality, we just sailed on the 20th of May on the Wonder and this was by far the absolute worst food experience we have ever had with Disney. The entire staff of the Wonder felt like a back up or training team. Definitely not the Disney quality we had in our past 3 sailings over the last year on the Fantasy. The wonder needs some staffing and entertainment love for sure.

Just following up on this thread to see if anyone has any other experiences. There are a few Palo reservations left for our sailing, and unsure what to go for as we don't want to miss the major shows.

From what I can gather on a seven-night sailing, day two (Tuesday) is the Golden Mickeys, day five (Friday) is the Frozen show and day 7 (Sunday) is Dreams. Do the Frozen theatre show (which I assume is happening?) and the deck party occur on the same night? In previous years, these were separate.

Any help is much appreciated!

The consensus, unanimous agreement among seasoned Disney travelers we talked to was that DCL tried pre-cooking / pre-preparing (if that's a word(s)) on shore then thaw & simply heat and serve the food in the Dining rooms. Eliminates a lot of kitchen staff.

I don't understand how this would work. Would the entire meal for all of the cruise meals be prepared ahead of the cruise for the length of the cruise? And they would need the kitchen staff anyway because there is still cooking to be done and the facilities already exist on the ship. Not seeing any savings this way.

Frozen deck party was on Day 3 (Glacier day) along with the Frozen-theme menu in the MDR, while the Frozen show itself was on Day 5.

I have scheduled my Palo dinners over the years to still see the shows. Eat early or late. You can go to either show on any given night.

I have been in and out of Palo in 45 minutes (my choice, because we don’t need to linger). Your server will pace it as you wish, since (s)he is taking care of fewer tables in a smaller work space.

I do realize the available times left might hit squarely during show times.

Great, many thanks! Given this, Day 6 might be the best day for Palo as there appears to be nothing on but leaving Ketchikan. If it does coincide with Tiana's Mardi Gras, I will cancel it anyway because we really don't want to miss that!

This season on the Wonder AK cruises, they list 6 pm and 8:30 pm. Actually, that would be every cruise I have taken, too.

You should be able to have a relaxing meal and get to 8:30 show.

It allows the dinner guests and show guests to be using elevators and public areas at staggered times.

You may want to visit the dining team as you board (looks like mostly in the French Quarter lounge based on recent Navigators but could change) to confirm and then either switch your dinner or your dining rotation. Often they are able to make adjustments once onboard to accommodate.

Smaller kitchen staff. Thaw on the bench, just heat and serve rather that a larger staff preparing food. The food on that cruise was horrendous. Server staff was jumping thru fiery hoops all over the dining room with dis satisfied cruisers. On the elevators after dining it was the subject amongst passengers. Next cruise on the same ship food was spectacular. Damfino but something was wrong on the entire menus. It was bad.
