We probably wouldn’t have seen the glaciers at all if we didn’t have a verandah. My kids felt it was too cold on deck and wanted to stay in the room but occasionally peek out to see the glaciers. I stayed on the verandah the whole time and they would go inside and get warm, then come out for a few minutes, then repeat. Later in the cruise we all got very sick and were confined to our rooms for the last few days so the verandah was essential—if that happened in an inside room we would have been miserable but at least got to feel like we were still in Alaska and get some fresh air with a verandah. Based on both of those experiences I don’t think I’d ever book an inside room for alaska.
