Alaska cruise July glacier viewing itinerary change. Questions...

Our 7-night Alaska cruise in July got its glacier visit location changed. It went from Dawes glacier to Stikine Icecap. The weird thing is that we never got an email notifying us of the change. I just happened to discover it when I looked at my reservation on the Disney Cruise app. I went looking for some information on the location and all I could find was links to a peak called Devil's Thumb. There certainly isn't much, if any, Youtube videos that show what the inlet and glacier look like. It looks like they are still going to have the same small boat glacier viewing excursion normally offered.

Does anyone have any good sources or first-hand information as to what this location is going to be like? If anyone has any pictures or videos, could you share them?

Someone in our FB group was saying the change was to give the captain more flexibility in choosing where to do glacier viewing depending on weather/icebergs/etc. So you could allegedly see either Dawes or Sawyer glacier depending on the conditions. In this video they talk about the experience on a late season sailing last year.

Dawes Glacier is part of the Sitikine Icecap so odds are that this is still where you are going, but as said in the post above, it does give DCL some flexibility if the conditions warrants it.

They have all changed I think. Someone else posted on the boards about it late last year. I looked at our June, and it changed too.

It does seem in the trip reports and vlogs I've seen it was about 50/50 on which glacier they ended up at.

We ended up at Sawyer last year (was beautiful btw!) due to icy conditions at Dawes. I think it probably makes sense for the itineraries to list a broader area for the glacier day so that guests can know that they will have the experience of a glacier but won't have an expectation of a specific one.

OK, thanks. That makes sense.
