Alaska, California, Headed West,Super Trip!

So excited. We officially are booked on an Alaska Cruise on DCL.
We are going to drive to California from Houston, Texas. And then onto Canada!
Sooooooo cool.
I have never been West by car.
We have Big plans... visiting a wonderful friend that we haven't seen since 1998. D23, Grand Canyon. Plus going on the cruise with the coolest family.
Life is good.

We had our first official meeting with our friends we are traveling with. Tom, Kristy, and Wes.
Trying to figure out the oil' should we venture out on our own or use official shore excursions.
Looking into some of are options with an open mind. We all are concerned about returning to the ship on time...of course ; if we go off the " Disney Grid" and venture out independently.
