Alaska Airlines has a Lowest Fare Calendar

Alaskaair.com now has a reservation tool that lets you see the lowest fares for a flight from say PDX to SNA. This is a a very helpful booking tool. Just click on Lowest fare calendar when checking fares. Alaska has aslo changed from 20k to 25k miles needed for a round trip domestic flight.

Are you sure about the 20K v. 25K award booking? Could it be the specific flight? Via their website, the Award amount for a domestic roundtrip flight is still listed at 20K via internet booking and 25K via phone.

I got an email saying they were raising the number of miles needed. Maybe it hasn't taken effect yet.

If I remember correct you are able to book a flight a year out from the dead line that is stated on the web site. If you know you have a trip planned for next August and get that booking in before the deadline you are only charged 20k miles, if it is after dead line value goes to 25k. If you can plan ahead it would save a few miles. Hope this helps. Please go to alaskaair.com the information is to the right -- just click on it to read.

It would sure be nice if it stayed 20k for internet bookings, but that does not appear to be the case.

Just wanted to say thanks for the tip. The tickets I bought in May have went down in price. They don't give refunds but I did get a nice credit for another ticket which will come in handy.
