Alamo's mini van rate for early May dropped for me today (M)

Not being a Costco member, I would not feel comfortable trying to redeem a coupon that states...

"Costco Members
Up to 25% Off!".

Regardless these are sure some sweet rates at Alamo right now.

Thanks, I just got $249 for May 12 - 19. I also used rate code by and the $25.00 link.

That's, by far, the cheapest I have found so far.

Lisa

For March16-23rd I got a minivan through Alamo for $130.48 (total including taxes etc, etc, etc) pickup in Orlando drop off at Fort Lauderdale using the Costco discount and $25 coupon. I can't believe it!!!!

WOO-HOO! Got my mid-size SUV for 5/6-5/12/06 down to $93 TOTAL, inc. taxes! I'll be checking with some of you before my trip to be sure no problems with not having a Costco membership card.

Thanks for the heads up, I think I got a good deal on the rates with the Walmart codes, 6/24-7/2 for $137.00 with tax! Whoohoo! :thumbsup2

Now, I'll just wait till it gets closer & will probably use the pre-pay option to save the 15%, if I'm calculating correctly it will cost me about $120 after taxes & discounts for 8 days plus a couple of hours!!!! :disrocks:

Also, didn't read all the post about the Costco thing, but mine is with an ENT coupon, hoping to just get a better rate if a different code comes out!

Apparently, you can't use the 15% prepay on existing reservations according to alamo site. But when i make a new one, i can't find the link to save an add'l 15% either :confused3
The cancellation fee on a prepaid is only $5 so it'd probably be worth it to prepay, get the better price, and keep checking!

Donna-thanks for the tip, I didn't realize that but I'll have to look into it further. I don't think I'll do any better than what I've already got so perhaps I'll try to find a way to make a new one and prepay at the same time! :)

I think I figured out the PrePay thing, I went to Alamo's website and clicked on the link that said something like "save 15% off your rental" and from their made the reservation. What is does is pre-fill the rate/product code box with PREPAY, so it won't accept the Walmart code too, obviously. I got to the final screen and my rental went down from $137 to $130.56 with prepay so I just got out of it. Not worth saving less than $6.50 and having to prepay for it now.

HTH!

Are you able to use the online checkin when using the Costco coupon or does that then require you to go to the counter to check in? For $25 it may be worth it to skip the long line at the counter.

Our rate just went from $120 to $93 for 7 days in June/July for a mid-size SUV.

I hope they have enough to go around with this rate!

You cannot use any coupon (paper or ecoupon) when bypassing the counter :( For me...I felt the $25 in savings wasn't worth having to stand in that line, so I did not use the coupon. (This coming off a bad experience with Alamo back in 2003 -- hopefully they've improved)

Fantastic deal. My husband was in some doubt when we joined Costco last year, but he finally came around to my way of thinking. This is icing on the cake.

I got my rate down to $196 for 11 days using the wal-mart code for a mid-size suv but I would like to do the pre-pay option and check-in online to bypass the line at the desk but I thought I saw a post here before saying none of the suv's were elgible for pre-pay??? I just inputted it on the alamo site for 15% off prepay with an suv and it worked, came to the page where I would put my credit card info in.

Hmmm! anyone prepay on an suv before?

I was told you can use online check in with a standard size SUV. For my existing reservation, I still have that as an option and I can checkin now if I want (I'm trying to wait just a little longer) HOWEVER, the online check in requirements specifically say you cannot use it on a mid size SUV. I also have one of those ressies (just in case!) -- and the online check in feature is not an option on my resevation.

I'm not sure which post you are referring to but I tried to use the prepay option and it would not give me both the prepay 15% off discount AND the Walmart code. When I tried to use the prepay option it filled in that box with PREPAY as the code instead of the Walmart one and my price was only slightly ($7.00) cheaper. Plus, right on the Alamo website it does say that you cannot use online check-in with some SUVs so if you are trying to bypass the counter I wouldn't get one.

do you have to be a costco member to get this discount coupon? I don't have a costco near me so it wouldn't be worth it to join for nothing! :confused3

darn! I guess there's no point in pre-paying then if online check-in isn't available for mid size suv's. I do like the idea of having the rental paid for already but I'm not going to do that this far in advance just in case rates go even lower. Oh and I wasn't able to get the walmart codes with the prepay either, I just went to the site clicked the pre-pay and save graphic link and inputted all my dates, mid-size suv, etc and it came up at the same rate I had with wal-mart codes. just an fyi :)

guess it looks like I'm in for a line wait at the counter :(

Mine just went down another $20!! :cool1: It's gone from $150 to $135 to $115 for a mid-size SUV for a week in early May...unbelievable!!

I e-mailed Alamo, about the Costco offer, and just got an reply:

Thank you for inquiry.

If you are going through Costco website you will have to show proof you are
a Costco member at the time of pickup.

For any other questions or concerns please feel free to email us.

Thank you,

I've cancelled and re-booked with a WalMart code on Mousesavers for only a little more than the Costco offer :thumbsup2

Better safe than sorry I guess :rolleyes1

Just to give everyone a heads up.....
I did the PrePay because I wanted to save the extra dollars. I figured for the $5.00 cancellation fee, it wouldn't be too bad if I had to cancel ahead of time.
I went into look at my reservation and a big red note popped up which said that it would be $10.00 to cancel if it is cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. Within 24 hours or a no show is now $25.00.
This certainly makes me think twice. I have my printed reservation with the fees indicated on them. They send me enough email about sales. I think I should have gotten something that says the terms of my rental have been changed. I am not going to worry about it unless I have too but wanted to let everyone else here know.

Just rebook and cancel the original

I am using an e-coupon for my reservation. I am assuming that I don't have to show anything when I check in to get the car. Is this correct or am I missing something? I just clicked thru on the website and the coupon was automatically applied. Thanks.
