With alamo being one of the most expensive rentals is there any advantage going with them over other companies trhat are less expensive.

Depends how far down the chain you're looking at. There isn't all that much difference between any of the 8 major companies, among them it comes down to personal preference. You get down below that and there are some definite advantages, especially at MCO. Cars not on site, no way to skip the counter, hard upsells for insurance, tolls, fuel, etc. I've rented in the last few years with Hertz, National, Thrifty, Dollar, Alamo and Budget. They were all fine, some experiences were better than others but only with Dollar would I hesitate to use them again.
