ALAMO vs NATIONAL Hoping for a quick reply on this since we are leaving in 2 weeks, Alamo just came out with really good January Special prices and I have a decent deal with National. Is it a real pain to stand on line at Alamo is there a way to skip the line? ? (I am so spoiled by the "Emerald Aisle".) I have an Alamo account on line but don't know if I need a card like my Emerald Club card. Anyone with experience with this I would appreciate your input. Thanks and Happy Healthy Holidays to all.

I used Alamo for a mid-September trip as they were so much cheaper than National. The Alamo line was about 10 people long and moved quickly. Alamo and National agents will service the queue for the other if free and the National agents took most of the line ahead of me and kept things moving as they had no line.

On my late October trip, I used National to save time and found the EA pretty empty for choice whereas the Alamo aisles were packed with waiting cars to choose from.

I'd say take Alamo if they are cheaper based on my experiences as the line will move quickly and the choice in the garage is greater.

National also just came out with a January super sale. Try the Priceless code: 6600330 (anyone can use this code).

You must've gotten a great deal with Alamo if it beats the January deal I have with national. I paying for an intermediate car for 8 days (Jan. 15-22), using the priceless code 6600330 and the $20 entertainment coupon (available through a previous thread, but I saved the link in case anyone didn't see it) and my rate is $96 before taxes. A total of $124. This is one of the best rates I've ever gotten. So you must have a remarkable deal with Alamo if it beats my breakdown of $12 a day...???

i don't understand that since they are the same company, but i have heard negative things about alamo on here, i was in and out of line within 5 minutes, they were great

happy lawyer

did you give away where you got your timeshare....smilawgs

you will enjoy it there....we have owned there since 1990

I priced out both for my trip earlier this month. Alamo wasn't close to the $112 total I paid at National with the priceless code and $20 entertainment coupon. Great deal, I got an Impala on the EA (7 days).

Thanks for the feedback the problem is that we are only rentng for 5 days so the weekly rates do not apply, neither does the entertainment coupon. I got a rate of $133 with National and $113.00 with Alamo so I am actually just considering using Happy Limo at this point. The confusion always sets in about 2 weeks before we go and this is our 19th trip in 15 years. You would think I would have this all together after all these trips!

A five-day rental may qualify for the weekly rate, depending on the pick-up and return times. It usually takes a total of 5 days + 2 hours (1 day is a 24-hour period for car rental purposes) for the weekly rates to kick in with National. Take a look at your pick-up and return times and see whether you might get into a weekly rate. The Entertainment coupon from the EC web site then requires a five day rental as well.

We visit Orlando so often that price is a big factor for us. We get Alamo a lot on Priceline, and their line is really long about 60 to 70 percent of the time. We got National once....no line at all, and they were not at all pushy on the insurance (some of the Alamo agents are awful and try to trick you into taking it). But it doesn't bother me to be firm about saying "no," so I will take Alamo when price is a factor.
If you are staying on property, Happy Limo might be a good option. We just used them for our Disney Cruise this weekend, and it was the same great service as always. A couple of weeks ago, my sister-in-law and I were at WDW, and the transportation service was great. It was pretty crowded, but I don't think we ever waited for than 10 minutes for a bus, boat, or monorail.

I think the decision for us will be Happy Limo..thanks for all the feedback..A happy and Healthy New Year to all
