We normally fly with Virgin so have always previously used Dollar for car rental but in Sept we got a great deal with BA so flew with them instead :thumbsup2

BA use Avis who we preferred to Dollar just for the simple fact that you were nt led out to your car by someone who may as well be holding out their hand whilst walking you to the car waiting to be handed a tip :headache:. With Avis you picked up your keyes, were told where abouts the car was located in the car park & was left to your own device.

We ve now rebooked with Virgin for next Sept :cloud9:, We re frequent flyers with Virgin so the 15 % off discount sealed the deal ;). Have noticed that they re no longer using Dollar but now Alamo.

Was just wondering if Alamo do the same thing as Dollar ie taking you out to the car or whether they ve got the same approach as Avis by handing you the keys & letting you find car yourself?

Dollar seemed to be very pushy at trying to sell as extras too which was a pain, no matter how many times we said "no thankyou" they d still go on & on & on :rolleyes1
Hopefully Alamo are better :cutie:

Also does anyone know if Alamo carries Dodges?? We always were given a Dodge by Dollar which is our fav car:love:, so much so we now wanna get one over here. With Avis we had a Chevy which was nice enough but did nt compare to a dodge:rolleyes:

Any info would be greatly appreciated :goodvibes

When we used Alamo I'm pretty certain they just told us which bay to go to and let us choose our car as all the keys were in the locks :thumbsup2

i love ALAMO....you get to pick out the car you want from a whole row of cars of the same size..

they just send you out to the lot and you find the aisle of the size you're renting (for example, midsize) and then you walk down the aisle and pick the car you want...the keys are right in the car...

when i see a car i like from the outside, i get in to see if the car smells ok and then i turn it on to see how much mileage it has...

there are often 20 or more cars of each size to choose from...

and no one comes out with you....you sign up at the desk (or quick kiosk) inside the terminal and then walk out to the lot on your own...

once you're picked the car and loaded it up with your luggage, you drive it out past a booth where they record which car you've taken and then you drive out of the lot.

Thanks for the info:goodvibes

That's great to know that you get to pick your own car too:thumbsup2

Am just hoping they ve got some Dodges lined up;)

Good to know Alamo make everything nice & simple. That's what we liked about Avis, there was no rush to drive off court. You could take ur time putting luggage in to the boot & check out the car before driving off. With Dollar we always felt like we had to throw luggage in the back & drive off asap as other cars would be lining ip behind you

thankyou :)
