Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone got one of these recently, as wanted to get some idea on cost.

On the Sunpass website said it would be around $20 per week, but has no information on the Alamo site.

Thanks

unless you're going to be passing toll points on a daily basis, i don't know why it would be worthwhile to take it..
we stay onsite, so the only tolls we pay are arriving from the airport and heading out to the airport again at the end..

On our last trip it was added to our bill when we collected the car and we didn't even realise until we got to the hotel. We also hired a car seat so knew there would be an extra charge but thought it was more expensive than we expected.

When we arrived at the airport for our flight home we went to customer service to see if we could get our money back and couldn't, we was so cross with ourselves cause we didn't pay any attention when we collected the car.

I definitely wouldn't bother with it and haven't any other time in the past. I always have change left over from previous holidays so I use that.

Had to edit because I was wrong.

The Alamo transponder is $3.95 a day with a max of $19.95.

If you plan on using the full amount I would just go ahead and buy my own sunpass ($20) and keep it for future use. If you don't plan on using the toll roads much maybe the Alamo thing is ok for you. Me personally I would just pay the tolls with cash.

If it's a max of $19.95 for the whole trip think I might get it as it saves all the time with tolls and we will be doing a bit of driving.

As definitely going to KSC and might even venture to Busch garden.

Also it's the first time I'm driving in the USA only passed my test 2 years ago ( i blame living most of my life in London as never needed a car, then I moved to the country and definitely needed one) and I could do with one less thing to worry about lol

All the details here. https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar

You don't do anything on collection, it's automatically activated if you go thru a toll.
I have used the system down Miami way but wouldn't ever use it around the themeparks but your choice.

Forgot to say, no tolls to Busch & back, you encounter 3 each way to KSC.

2 on the way to the airport then a new(opened about 2 years ago) 3rd one a few miles further.
only 2 on the way to the airport...for some reason it always seems like more...
sometimes i remember to have money ready, but sometimes i forget..
nothing like taking out a large bill to pay the toll!! :)

Just been on the Central Florida Expressway Authority website and checked their toll calculator.
It shows 1 before the airport and 2 after. I thought it was the other way around.:confused3
$4.25 each way total ($2.25+$1+$1) https://www.cfxway.com/for-travelers/#

i just calculated for our trip from the airport to WDW and it comes out $2.25
and it seems to be only one toll...
i was sure there were two tolls...
it is very confusing!!

I think the number of tolls depends if you come out of the north or south exits?

Mines 2 tolls at $1.50 each, which is the 417 from Boggy Creek Rd (Airport South Exit) to I-Drive/World Center Drive (Turn off to 536 to come out on Epcot Center Drive to get to Beach Club).

We were talking specifically about the Beeline Express but you are correct 2 when you leave the South exit.

Ah gotcha, too early!!

I think the point we've all made is that the Sunpass is not worth it unless you're driving to Miami or something!

aren't you leaving soon? no live trip report?
Leave home tomorrow afternoon. No internet connection on the ship, I am not paying $90 for 1GB of data. I am just going to put a few pics on FB when I get some Wifi. You can follow along on there:)

We got it free on the last 2 cruises. Last August it lasted Karen the whole 7 days to keep up with her emails. Mine went in a day. Matt is getting the 1GB package to keep in touch with his girlfriend & friends (no doubt I will end up paying :) )

chani didn't use theirs up either - they used it for work emails...still had part left at the end of the 7 days
