Alamo Reservation & Quick/Silver

I've seen some posts around that imply if you made a reservation with Alamo without providing the Quick/Silver #, you can't use Quick/Silver to get your car... is this correct?

I didn't get my Quick/Silver id until after I made a great reservation (mid-size SUV - 8 days $178 taxes in). I went back and tried it again with the QS id, and got $304.

If I can't use QS when I get there, I don't care since I will save $130. I just want to know if it is indeed the case.

In order to use the quick silver service I believe it has to be noted on your reservation at the time of booking. If you try to add your quick silver # after a reservation has already been made then it is subject to the new rate.
I'd rather save the money too..

Call the Alamo 1-800 number -- they can add your Quick Silver number, without changing your rate.

I've tried this a number of times and they couldn't unless the rates were the same.

This was my experience this morning... They have to re-book the reservation, and if they can't get the same rate, you are out of luck. I just left the reservation as is, since the rate went from $178 to $304...

I woudn't fret over not being able to add the quick silver to your ressie. I've heard between the online check in, kiosks, & quick silver option the lines have not been as bad as they have in the past. (kiosks are an option for you too)

Not sure how many are in your party, but what we used to do was split up. My husband would go down to the Alamo counter and get in line while I got the bags. Then I'd take the elevator 1 floor down and he would usually just be finishing up. Seemed to help us because I think once people get their bags could be when the lines start to back up.

This happened to me last September. I didn't have my QS number yet when I initially reserved. I didn't want to lose the rate I had, because it was incredible ($110. total for 8 days - Intermediate; love to get that this year) There was a long thread about whether you could have QS added to your reservation or not without affecting the rate. I remember I had to call a specific phone number . . . I think it was a phone number in my QS information packet. I was very, very nervous about it. They had problems doing it, so they sent me an e-mail verifying it was a QS reservation at that great rate in case there were problems at the Orlando location.

Worked like a charm. I have always been partial to National because you walk right out to the car, but using the Alamo desk in the parking lot didn't take much longer. We also got to pick out what we wanted - just like National.

Edited: Last night I was going through old vacation stuff and found where I e-mailed them about adding the QS number. The response was that they could not add a QS number to an existing reservation, but to call their 1-800 number and they would duplicate the old reservation with the old rate and enter in the QS number. Hope this helps someone.
