I have a one day and one way alamo rental to be picked up in the morning from MCO and returned to Dolphin the next morning. What if I arrive the night before, and want to pick up the vehicle earlier? I secured my ressie at a really low price, and I'm sure if I call and try to change the ressie ahead, the price will rocket up. I want to know anyone has experience of that? I know if I arrive just a couple hours earlier on the same day, that usually would be fine. But I will literally arrive one night earlier. Since we spend the night at an airport hotel with shuttle, so it's not the end of the world if I have to pick up the car still in the morning of my original time.

Anyone? Thank you!

You will need to car Alamo to get the true answer. Or simply got online and try to price the car for the time period you want to rent it and see what the price will be. I have added a day on at the end of the trip and still got the same daily rate I paid for the other days.

if I get online, as expected, I got a much higher rate as always. I know things could be different when you get to the specific rental counter.

Yes they will charge you a "walk up" rate which is 5-6 times what a normal reservation rate will be. I would call. DH use to work for Alamo.

called, and rate is the same high as you check online. I will check with the Alamo counter when I arrive, and if they let me get the vehicle earlier for the same rate, then I will take it, if not I will take the shuttle to the airport hotel, and come back to get the rental car the next morning. We are not doing anything for the arrival night anyway. But if anyone has similar experience, please share. Thank you !

Do you need it until the 2nd morning or did you simply rent it for 24 hours? What happens if you pick it up the night you arrive and return it within 24 hours?

I don't really need it the night before, but it would be nice to just get the car off the plane and then save me a trip from hotel to airport to pick up the car the next morning. I only need it for less than 24 hours no matter when I pick up the car.

So have you looked at home much it would be for 24-hours when you pick it up at night? What is the date you need it and what is your current rate? I'm pretty good at finding good rates.

We did that one time. Flights were very high for the morning of our arrival day. We already had a good car rental rate. We flew in the night before and stayed at the Sheraton by the airport, took the shuttle back in the morning and got the car around 8:00am even though our reservation was for noon (got the same rate). We were at WDW by 8:30am. I think it was National.

Our original reservation is from 9am Sunday Nov 23- 9am Monday Nov 24(return to Dolphin), fullsize for $25 all inclusive with Alamo(My AP discount). Now the same itinerary, rates more than doubled. Our travel plans changed last minute, and I will only need it till afternoon Nov 23, the ideal route is to get it at 7pm Nov 22 when we get off the plane, then return it the next day afternoon to Dolphin. But I can live with taking the shuttle to Sheraton Suites(what a co-incident, Debbie), then come back the next morning to pick up the car.

Go for the challenge!:):cool1: Thanks ahead!
MCO to Dolphin, either alamo or national. 7pm Nov 22 for 1 day

Do you belong to Costco? With that code you can get a full size for $43 inclusive. Code 7014926 will get you a full size at $54. Sorry that's the best I can do!

Thank you for searching for me, and I will keep that in mind.
btw, I love searching for travel deals too.

To be honest, I'd be inclined to leave the reservation as it is and just pick up the car the next morning. You're right that you can probably cheat a little and show up a little early, but certainly not the night before.

yes, this is our plan now...

It might be worth stopping by Alamo and seeing if they can change your reservation for the same price. They probably can't/won't but I would probably try.

Yep, will let DH go ask while we wait for the luggage. will report back.
