Quick question.

I'll be "home" in May and have decided to rent a car. Apparently DVC gives a discount with Alamo. Anybody ever used it? Was it good? I think my job has a plan with Alamo as well so I'll check that out.

If anyone has experience with this - let me know! Thanks!

Once we rented from Alamo. Since we have used Avis and National. At the time Alamo was off airport and line to rent the car was worse than Splash Mt. in the summer. It took two hours to get the car. Maybe they are better now a days. I usually use Avis as it is convenient to drop at the Hotel Plaza Hilton.

My DH got us some sort of discount at Alamo just last week when we were there, but I am not sure if it was DVC or Disney Club.

Alamo is nice now, as they have a shared desk with National right on airport property, so you don't have that "Take the shuttle to the rental car with 400 other people and wait in line for 2 hours" thing. They also have some sort of plan where you pre-register for a car, go to a special aisle and pick a car and drive it out so you don't even have to go to a desk. Sort of like National's "Emerald Aisle" program.

We just rented an SUV through Alamo for our upcoming drive to WDW. We used DC, not DVC, but they are likely the same discount. Our discount was 20%, and the price was the best I could find using all of my other discounts (AAA, ect...).

Good luck......

Alamo has some pretty good rates if you sign up to be an alamo.com member. I got a one-day rental (convertible) - picking up/dropping off at the Dolphin- for $34.00 (plus taxes and fees of course). Without the code it was almost $100.00 :)

I got a better price from Dollar (using mousesaver codes). I booked them first then called MS to see if they could accommmodate us at the same rate. They said sorry you got a better rate that we could give you.

Just an FYI!

I've used both Dollar and National out of MCO...

National was very pleasant... Recieved a nice Grand Am to drive to VB... We booked it through them though because we were finishing off our trip at BWV, and they had that Car Return near the MK which made it really convient...

Using Dollar was also very good.. We rented a Grand Caravan from them in November... Went online got a promotional code... Called Dollar's 1-800 # and booked... Simple.. We also tried through MS, and the Disney Club, but they couldn't match the rate we got... (I'm not sure if Dollar has the checkin' though on WDW property.)

I'd recommend either of them though...

I got a terrific deal from Payless car rental. Its not a fancy place but a 2003 car is still the same.

Car rentals rates always seem to be changing. Most Entertainment books, merchandise clubs (such as BJs), lots of credit cards and organizations have deals. Check out www.mousesavers.com and sign up for the programs at each renters web site. Test out all coupons and rates and make your best deal, then in a month or so do it all over again as the rates seem to continually change. We have gotten the best deal from Dollar, Avis, Budget, Alamo and National, depending on the size of the car and the time of the year.

I rented from Alamo in Oct. (Got the best rate through Continental) Car was ok (not what I'd reserved) but they "had an attitude". I doubt I would use them again.

I received a wonderful rate using my AARP code and a coupon from BJs for National. Rate, including all taxes etc. 138.34 for a week EA ( I reserved a full size).
