Alamo price increase on existing reservation

Make sure before you sign and drive you check the paperwork.

Last April 2016, we rented a minivan for 10 days thru Alamo, free extra driver, for around $250 total. DH started to sign as I was looking at it and said it wrong. We had our original confirmation email and they reprinted everything. I think they were charging for the additional driver when it was free!

Just checked mine since we fly in on Sunday and it's up too :-( Lost the $25 coupon and now show a savings of $13 and change. Estimated total was 118 and now shows estimated total is 156. I don't think I can dispute it since it's an estimated total :-(

Estimated total just means based on the dates you booked for. Some people keep cars longer or turn in earlier, which can cause a new total. It also covers taxes etc.

That said, they have eliminated coupons before, and I don't remember people being successful with that.

My biggest concern is what price will come up if we do online check in and skip the counter, which is what we usually do.

You still go past a person in a booth and can check with them and fix it at that time.

I got a reply to my email, and he agent said that my rate would be as it was when I booked, and that that is what shows in their system. She even gave me the detailed breakdown of the rate. My concern now is that it showed the coupon I used (ad2823jaz) which I thought as a public coupon, as "Costco super coupon," and I don't have a costco membership. I think there are other $25 coupons out now, so I may see what that does if I try to modify it to a different coupon code...

From the March thread here it does seem like that's a Costco code. They CAN insist on seeing your Costco card, so if you don't have one I would find a new code.

I did find another $25 coupon. For some reason it caused my rate to change a bit, but only by a few dollars. I'd rather pay a few dollars more than risk using a coupon I'm not entitled too.

My reservation has now reverted back to the original lower price when I look it up. Guess they fixed whatever glitch they were having.

Same thing for me. On-line rate now matches my printed documentation for the bypass the counter check-in, so I should be all set when we arrive at the airport.
Picked up car about noon. Paperwork agreed with my quoted rate, tax, discounts, etc.

I just checked mine for October and it is up! My base rate isn't the same though. My email has $106 for the week and a total of $152, and the alamo site has $128 base rate with a total at $177. Ugh. I know it is only $25, but I don't want to pay more than I have quoted.

what is a frequent traveler charge???

mine starting 7/12 didn't change, but I did the online check in and added a payment just to make sure. :car:
