Hi everyone :)
I have a pre-paid voucher for my
car hire with Alamo
I used a discount code that was posted here on the UK trip planning forum (it was something to do with a car racing team???)
My question is, how much can I expect to pay on top of what I have already paid?
I know that this is a kind of a 'how long is a piece of string question' but I have tried calling Alamo and they aren't particularly helpful :(
We are collecting the car from the Dolphin and dropping off at MCO
Let me know if you need more info
I just don't want to drop the car off at MCO and have a real shock at the final bill
TIA :)

How much did you pre pay? When we have purchased car hire here for florida and got all the insurances we havent paid any extra when picking it up

The total cost was £120.23
Pick up at the Dolphin and drop off at MCO
8 Rental days

Was it the Dragster deal you got?
Everything you need will be included at that price, its about the going rate for intermediate car with all insurance(what size did you book?)

Any extras ontop are down to you, none are needed but if you take the roadside assist, Satnav, Sunpass or upgrade then they are all ontop. I just decline anything they offer me.

Thanks Wayne
Yes it was the Dragster deal for a compact car
On my confirmation there is a whole list of everything that's included (which looks like everything) but right at the end it says "Estimated charges are confirmed based on the information you have provided. Some taxes, fees and surcharges are payable locally and are subject to change"
Is that just a standard blurb?
I wondered if I would have to pay extra as I am picking the car up at WDW but dropping off at the airport?
The correct pick up and drop off points are listed on the confirmation I printed though

you might need to pay some extra
here's what I can tell you from our bill (march 2012)

you will probably be charged for the fuel ( fuel service option on the voucher/invoice). AFAIK cars have a full tank, so they'll charge for the fuel and you get to return the car at any fuel level.
we were charged $61.59 for a fullsize (chevy impala) but I guess you can decline, then you'll need to fill the tank just before returning the car, which might amount to the same

Airport access fee 10PCT@10.00% (that's what said on the invoice) : this applies to everything extra, and I don't know if it's for the rental, or for the pickup. You're picking up the car at the car care center and returning the car at the airport, so I wouldn't know if these taxes apply, but I'd guess that they do.

you'll also need to pay for any booster seat you might rent ($70).

And on top of that you have Florida sales taxes @ 6.5%

si let's play around with numbers and imagine you get a booster seat and a fuel tank
61.59 + 70 = 131.59
131.59 + 10% + 6.5% => $154.15
redo the maths if you don't use child's seat.

the other items that should be included as per your voucher :
- unlimited mileage
- collision damage waiver full
- extended protection
- customer facility charge @2.50/day
- airport access fees (same as above but applies to wbat is included in your voucher)
- florida surcharge 2.00/day
- tire/battery fee .02/day
- vehicle license fee .69/day
- sales tax @6.5%

if one of the above is not included, you have to pay extra.

Basically, if you don't use the airport, you save 10%. Check on your voucher (or on alamo's website) if you already paid the airport fees of 10%
if your drop off point is already set at the airport, then chances are you already paid the airport fee with your voucher. But note that any additional cost will get the 10% airport fee on top of the 6.5% florida sales tax)

if you decline everything they offer you, and don't purchase extra like booster seats, gps, or toll passes, then you won't be charged extra.

Thanks Wayne

Yes all std blurb, you have an all inclusive rate with the Dragster deal, you will just need to pay for a tank of gas unless you take any other options.
There are no one way fees within Florida so you can return to the airport for no extra. You would only be charged extra if dropping off in another state.

Did you not check out the deal I posted a few days ago? You should have been able to get your rental for around £90-95 and cancellled you Dragster res (no fees outside 7 days) Too late now, the code has expired. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2893842

Thanks for the info

A tank of fuel is included according to the breakdown on the voucher and we won't need a booster seat or any other 'extra'

The only thing that isn't listed on the breakdown of what's included is the airport tax (even though the airport is listed as the drop off location) so I am guessing it will be just this that I will have to pay for :confused3

I just like to have a rough idea in my head instead of getting a shock when I get back to the airport :thumbsup2

Posts I read said tank of gas was to be paid for on collection with Dragster deal. Did it offer you an upgrade to prepay? Just done a dummy booking and it wasn't included so not sure how you have it included but if it says it is then it will be.

Airport tax has always been included in all inclusive rates, you should have nothing to pay.

When you collect your car, double check what you sign for and confirm with the agent the total expected costs when returning the car. Its easier to sort before your rental than at the end if something is being charged for that shouldn't be.

I really can't remember if I upgraded to a tank of fuel but it is listed as included so perhaps I did
It was ages ago I booked it
Good tip on just double checking when I collect the car rather than trying to sort it out when I return the car to the airport :)
Thanks again!
