Alamo or Dollar

I'm wondering why I would rent from Alamo and not one of the "budget" car rental companies. Their prices are so much lower? What do I need to know?

Alamo can be just as inexpensive as some of the budget companies, you just have to keep looking. The rates seem to fluctuate from day to day. If you read some of the car rental threads you will see the prices people are able to get. For example, we have a standard size from Alamo for seven days in mid September. With taxes, we are paying $150 with the deal retriever and insiders discount. We have never rented from anyone else, and, knock wood, have always had nice cars with no problems. But I still check rates pretty much every other day and, though it hasn't gone lower, it has almost doubled on certain days. I don't think you would find a similar category vehicle for much lower from anyone else, even the cheaper companies. And Alamo doesn't actually have a "standard" size at MCO, so you get a full size for the same price. Not a bad deal!:)

My experience for the last 5 years or so was that Alamo was almost always the best rates I could find and I would search pretty extensively.
For some reason for approx the last year it seems that the best rates I am finding are with Dollar.

Those are the two I have used the most, both are equal in my opinion.

I wouldn't hesitate using any of the major companies based on price, I prefer the ones located on site, although I have used SIXT once and they are off site.
