Alamo Online check ?????

I had a question about Alamo's online check in.
How far ahead of the actual pick up of the vehicle can you do online check in? Another words, can you do the check in online from home and in my case 3 hours later go right to the garage to get the car?
Also , when using online check in or the kiosk, what info do you need to input? Does it show the amount/cost of the rental before you confirm?

We don't use online check in, but usually do SaveTime the day before. When you use the kiosk, all charges are explained. It of course offers the options to add insurance, extra drivers, full tank of fuel, GPS, etc. If you use SaveTime before using the kiosk, you only need to enter the confirmation number and confirm items, then swipe a credit card at the end.

All of my choices, insurance, fuel, etc, are always in the system with my Quick Silver account. At the kiosk, I just affirm my choices as being correct. My choices are always the same, so never have to reenter.

Thank you for that info, it is very helpful. One more question if I may.
With this online check in, do you get to choose the car too, and it's there in the lot a week later? Seems too good to be true. What if the previous renter doesn't return it on time?

I did it in Feb, the day before and it was as easy as Sympatico said it was...we just went to the garage, to the aisle that was designated for our car (the keys are in the door )and grabbed a car. Drove thru the booth, gave a visa and drivers license and viola...it was done. I will be doing it again 3 times in July.

I found this thread as we are using Alamo for the first time in June. Sounds alot like National. So just to confirm, we do not need to stop at the kiosk if we check in ahead of time and have the paperwork ready? Do you need to be a *********** member to do this?

Alamo is virtually the same as Alamo. If using a coupon though, an online is apparently not available. With all my info in Quick Silver, it is as simple as can be. Stop at the kiosk, hit the touch screen to confirm your pre-filled information (takes a minute or two), take the paper that the kiosk gives you, and then the same as National. Go to the lot, your aisle, pick whatever car you want, drive to the checkout, give them your paper, the hang tag, and your license and you are done. Very efficient and easy, same as National.
