Well I called Alamo (I just wouldn't feel right using it if I wasn't allowed)...it comes up in the system as "Offline Master P.E.P." The agent I spoke with said she's never heard of it...said it was indeed a GREAT rate! :lmao: I was then transferred to a supervisor...well she doesn't know either! Said she never heard of it but it's a great rate!

I agree...it gives me a great rate, but too good to be true?!?:confused3
Did you get the agent and supervisor's names? Did they say the rate would be honored? Are you using it?

So many Q'S:sad2:

Sounds like they said it is a great rate BUT are you willing to risk using it.
Are you willing to take full responsibility for an accident (heaven forbid) one happen since you certainly wouldn't be covered for insurance?
If they said o.k. to use I would certainly get that in an email from Alamo saying it is open to everyone and you are completely covered by insurance.
Just saying an agent or supervisor said I could wouldn't make me feel comfortable.

Never said I was using it. I just took initiative and called because I didn't feel right using it if I wasn't entitled to it.

That being said, on the other thread someone did state you could decline the insurance part.

I'm only the messenger....just saying...

I was indeed told that "it was a great rate" and any rate that I was able to make would be honored. I asked specifically if there were any ids or proof of an affinity group that I would have to show upon check in. I was told that nothing was required other than a drivers' license and a major credit card. I know you didn't ask me, but yes, I am using it. If there system is such that it accepts a single digit as a code, then they need to work on their web site. In the meantime, they have 5 months to send me an email rescinding the offer.

If you read the TOS and T&Cs of the website and reservation, you will note that it differs from what you post and believe. They have EVERY right to ask for proof of membership/relationship to any corporate ID. They also DO NOT have to honor any rate provided if you fail to meet the requirements.

The issue is not just at the time of reservation, but anytime up through return of the vehicle, you can even be asked for proof at time of return. Now if you believe that agents never ask for proof/ID, you are naive as they do all the time and a verbal confirmation by an agent isn't going to get you anywhere when you're standing waiting to get your car.

Again, as I posted on the other thread, it's about ethics, you know you do not know the relationship of this code but to save a "buck" you're willing to use it anyway, even though there is pretty much a 100% chance you are ineligible (especially with the included items).

Thanks for posting the code.:cool1::thumbsup2
I used it to make a reservation for the week of 4/16. :teacher: :laundy:
If anyone else uses it, let us know what happens at the counter. :confused3
Good Luck All,
Joe

And again I will say....it's all well and good to be able to book a code online. But, you may be surprised at the counter. Just because someone on the phone says you can use it, there is fine print on each website that will tell you that ID may be required in order to use a particular code.
I am closing this thread before it gets as heated as the other one.
