Alamo had developed a reputation (although not with me) over the last couple of years of being the worst on-site car rental company: long lines, rude counter people, high pressure insurance, etc. Well for those of you who prefer not to to have to deal with counter people you have another option. Alamo now has kiosks and lots of them. If you've made a reservation on-line lately you've noticed there is a bar code on your printed reservation. All you need to do is hold that bar code under the reader at the kiosk and follow the on screen prompts. It takes less than 2 minutes with no waiting in line. It still isn't as convenient as National's EA but is really a step in the right direction and Alamo is usually cheaper. Those of you that think that customer service is important when renting a car probably won't like this either but for those of you who like low prices and getting out of the airport (and to the parks) quickly rather than being swaddled like an infant should check this out.
