FYI Alamo Inisders- Make sure you check in at the counter or kiosk- You cannot just go to the lot and choose your car anymore. They will send you right back inside.

The policy just changed this week.:)
 
This policy has been in place at least since I was there in February. I believe it all changed when they changed their membership program to Insiders from ***********.

HA! Just after I told someone on another thread not to waste their time at the kiosk! Last week of January we tried to use the kiosk and they told us to not bother.

I wonder if this is in relation to them not keeping CC info anymore

Did you mean bypass the counter policy or must go to the counter policy?
 
Thanks for the update. We are using them on the 12th. We were part of the former "club".
 
It should have happened as of May 22nd:

"We want you to be the first to know that the Alamo Insiders terms and conditions will be changing. Effective May 22, 2011, the program will no longer include a Master Rental Agreement with credit card information on file for its members. What hasn’t changed is your access to exclusive Insiders deals. You can review the amended terms and conditions here."

With no master agreement on file you would have to have a rental agreement for each rental plus provide credit card info. This can happen either via online check in (no coupons) , the kiosk or the counter.

You are correct. I was so peeved when they changed the rule 2 weeks before my vacation because I could no longer avoid the counter/kiosk and go straight out to the garage to pick out my car. How outrageous of them. I even thought about paying extra by going with another company - that would teach them. :laughing:

Cooler heads prevailed and I used the kiosk for the very first time EVER on June 2nd. OMG - it was so easy using the kiosk - I'm more than a little sheepish over my initial reaction. :rolleyes:
 
They did this so they can justify charging more for National rentals and Emerald Club (which has an annual fee on paper, but is easy to get for free)
 
Just do online check in from home. Print your documents at home and head to the car.

As long as you are not using any type of coupon, even an e-coupon, that would be the best solution. Otherwise, you either have to go to the inside counter, kiosk or outside counter. Not sure of the logic behind Alamo disallowing their own e-coupons from online check in, but they do. :confused3
