We rented a mid-sized car for $123 from Nov. 1- 8, from Alamo at MCO.

First, the good:

There were several larger cars & SUV's parked in the mid-sized row, so we got a very nice Jeep Patriot which was awesome- comfortable, great mileage, etc. Very nice surprise! :goodvibes

The bad (& ugly):

The car was rented in my name, and I have the Insider membership. We checked in using the kiosk, then I asked an attendant in the garage if my husband could be added as a second driver at the exit booth. He said, of course- no problem. We get to the exit booth- the cashier seemed very put out that we wanted to add a second driver, and that we expected this for FREE. She spoke broken English (Russian maybe?) and kept telling us the additional driver was $9.99/ day. I kept telling her that Insiders could add a spouse for free. We showed her our driver's licenses with matching addresses. She kept getting angrier. "Who told you DEEES?!!! Who told you DEEES?!!!" like we were trying to commit some sort of crime. We explained several times about Alamo, Insider's and their 2nd driver policy, to which she answered, "So you want second driver? $9.99/ day!" Us, "No, it's FREE!" Her, "Who told you DEEES?!!!"

We interrupted one of her rants to explain that we just did this in May, and it was no problem. For some reason, this made her poke around in her computer and who knows what came up, but she gave us our $123 rate with two drivers listed. I should add that several folks in line behind us watched for a minute, then bailed for another booth. I wish we could have but we were stuck.

It was a pretty stressful start to what began as a very early day, but it all worked out in the end. Though, I can't shake the feeling that the KGB is watching us now......

If this was MCO, first, we don't have any Russian exit booth attendants, anyone with an accent is basically of Latino heritage. so, no worries about the KBG (which was really an unnecessary comment), second, if you have her name, then call and make a comment, she may need some additional training.

I always try to do the pre registration and you can add both drivers on line.

We're usually the ones in the car stuck behind whoever is taking forever at the booth. Just curious: why not add the additional driver either at the desk in the airport or the desk in the garage rather than at the booth so you don't hold up other customers who just want to get on their way?

Good point.
