Alamo Car Class

Appears Alamo changed the name of their Midzise car class to Intermediate. Though this was interesting.

There was a thread about 1-2 weeks ago where people reported they had a car booked and now it is showing up different. I think some reservations are actually showing up as a 2 door instead of a 4 door.

We went to pick up a suv at MCO from Alamo last year and the whole section was Kia Rondo's. It is a cute car, but much smaller than the SUV pictured on the internet when I booked my car. After much searching we finally found a Rav off to the side that was ready to rent and that gave us a little more room.

I picked up a Compact from Alamo in Providence, RI a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that the lot was FULL of Mazda 5's in the "minivan" aisle. Now, I own a Mazda 5 and I like it, but I don't consider it a minivan. It's more of a cross over which is half station wagon and half micro-minivan. It's a perfectly comfortable car for 4 people with luggage ... much like an SUV. It *can* hold 6 people but then you have zero room for luggage with only about 12-18 inches between the backity-back bench and the rear door. When I saw the minivan aisle I imagined the outrage of DISer's if they rented a minivan because they needed a lot of room and ended up with a Mazda 5 .

FWIW, I don't know if Alamo has Mazda 5's at MCO so I'm not sure if people should worry about it or not.

Thanks for posting this, I have a mini-van reserved with National in Feb (pretty much the same company). My Mom will go ballistic if we get there and it is a 'compact' mini-van. Now I can be prepared to scrape her off the garage ceiling after being up since 3am and a 3 hour flight...

Like I said, I don't know if they are at MCO. It might be worth a direct call to National before you go so you don't get too worked up over nothing. You can also book a larger minivan (I think there are 2 sizes) and you won't get a Mazda 5.

Oh, just getting mentally prepared just incase. LOL
Does the Mazda 5 seat 7? My reservation says "seats 7". The other option was seats 8.

Nope, the Mazda seats 6.
