Please share how the Car Care Center works with rentals? I have only rented at the airport and the Dolphin. Do you get to pick out your own car like the airport or do they choose it for you like the Dolphin? Any information you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. How do you sign up for the shuttle ride over to the CCC?....we will be staying at BLT. Thanks!

They choose the car for you, but they usually give you a choice of what they have. We are EA members, so we rent a midsize and are upgraded to a standard or full depending on what they have.
You have to call ahead of time to get on the pickup schedule. I usually call the afternoon before to get on the list. They tell you what time the van arrives at BLT, its usually once per hour.

We rented from the Car Care center last trip after always renting from MCO on our other trips. We will never do it again. We signed up for a compact since we were only going to have it for a few days and they gave us the worst car ever. We were not given a choice of cars (but they did try to sell us on an upgrade) but just told which number parking space the car was in. I don't remember the exact make of the car but it was a completely stripped down version. The worst part was the condition of the vehicle. About 30 minutes after we drove away, the tire pressure light came on. As a result, we had to make another trip that afternoon to have the tires checked. All four tires turned out to have very low pressure. Obviously they had not be checked for some time. The mechanic was nice enough but the other staff were just surly. The whole experience was just bad. I have never had a bad experience at MCO so next time we will stick with MCO or try the Dolphin.

How time consuming can it be to return the car at the Car Care Center? Returning a car at the airport is incredibly quick....just wondering what it is like at the CCC and how much time to allow? Does the CCC have super busy times that back up? Also, are you within walking distance to anything or you have to take the shuttle to get back to the TTC or BLT?

In my opinion, nothing is faster than picking up and returning a rental car from an on-airport rental company. We've rented from National and Alamo at the Car Care Center when it served our needs, and it can take a long time waiting on their shuttle to show up and take you (and everyone else) to the various places all over the property to drop off or pickup. The shuttle will take you anywhere on property you want to go (resort, parks, etc.). I'd figure at least an hour to get some place after dropping off the car.

It is nice and a little quicker when they pick you up, but watch the clock because once I called too close to "closing time" and they wouldn't come get me. I think they only have 1 or 2 people at the counter checking out cars, so if you get there at a busy time (we never did) I can see that part taking a while too.

The Car Care Center isn't within walking distance of anything but the Hess gas station.

You can also rent from Dollar at the Wyndham and Alamo/National at the BV Palace. Both are a vert short walk from the DTD bus stop.

Dolphin had a crappy car for us. Totally stripped down, no electnic windows or locks. It sucked but served its purpose as far as not needing to ride the even more sucktastic busses! Since I am careful to cut costs with rental cars and those from the Dolphin are less expensive than the airport I will still do this!

I would consider how long you need the rental car, and what time of year you are going. The prices between rental at the airport vs rental at WDW car center can differ greatly. For a 9 day rental in September, the airport was $200 cheaper than the WDW car center. So check both locations, and check those discount codes (some are only for airports).
