Alamo - Cancellation Policy

I know that if I was to use the Pre Pay option , a $10 fee would apply for cancelling (or not showing up) within 24 hrs of the pick up time.
I couldn't find the policy for regular reservations if I was unable to make it for the pick-up time (or was a no show)?
Anyone ?

On a regular reservation, you are not asked for a credit card number, so there's no way they can charge you.

I've held multiple reservations before because my plans were fluid and there's never been a problem.

I my case I am an Emerald Club member and they have my credit card number on record (for the online check-in and counter by-pass).

When you say multiple reservations,do you mean that you have several bookings that you have booked but don't cancel....and there was no fee ?

Emerald Club is for Alamo's sister company National Car.

I have had reservations for Alamo where I simply chose not to pickup the car, no charge.

I think so, but I can't say 100% for sure. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but I honestly can't remember....
 
That would be my question, too. Alamo HAS my cc number on file, so would there be a charge for a last minute no show or cancellation (my preference)?
 
I found a couple of paragraphs in the Alamo website pertaining to this,but I have to admit I'm still scrtaching my head a little bit.
Does this mean that the only "no show" charges will be for Pre-Pay or Guaranteed Bookings (still not clear )??

In the case of a "no show" of a customer, the reservation will be canceled. Alamo charges a fee on the renters credit card for vehicles that are reserved but not rented, if the reservation was not canceled within 24 hours of the anticipated arrival.

Cancellations are accepted up to one calendar day before reservation date. If the reservation is not cancelled, a No Show Fee of $50.00 (plus applicable taxes, surcharges, and lessor fees) will be charged to the credit card on the Guaranteed Reservation.

Guaranteed Reservations are required on all specialty vehicles, such as minivan, 4-wheel drive, and convertible car classes at all Corporate locations and at participating licensee locations.

The following credit cards are accepted for Guaranteed Reservations:

American Express
Diners Club
Discover
Carte Blanche
MasterCard
Visa

Pre-Pay


When you pay in advance for a qualified reservation, your Pre-Pay discount will be automatically applied to your rate. Since your reservation is prepaid, you'll spend less time at the rental counter and get on the road faster!

To qualify for Pre-Pay:

All rentals require a clean driving record.
A major credit card* and a valid driver's license in the name of the renter will be required at the time of rental. The credit card presented must be the same credit card used to prepay the reservation. Debit cards are not allowed for Pre-Pay reservations.
Alamo does not accept online-only, virtual credit cards or any other type of "single-use" card number security product or one-time use credit card number that may be provided by credit card companies for online use.
24-hour advance reservation required.
Offer valid for U.S. residents at participating U.S. locations.
Additional Driver - additional charges will apply - go to the counter. No additional driver is allowed with Pre-Pay except in participating locations within the following states: California, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon, and Wisconsin.

Cancellation Fee - If the reservation is cancelled more than 24 hours before the pick up time, a $5 cancellation fee will be assessed. If the reservation is cancelled within 24 hours of the pick up or is not picked up at all, a $10 no-show fee will be assessed. Any optional insurance or CDW product selected at the time of reservation may be cancelled at the counter at the time of rental without incurring a cancellation fee.

*Credit card is charged at time of reservation

Does it mean that a regular (non Guaranteed...ie:Speciality Vehicle) doesn't pay any penalty ?mmm.....:confused3
