I can get a 10 day Midsize SUV for $240 includes all taxes and fees. I want to book because that's the cheapest I've seen so far. Does anyone know Alamo's cancellation policy.....say if I find something cheaper somewhere else. I looked on there website but couldn't find anything. I seem to remember that car rentals are like hotels, you can cancel up to 24 hours before.

Also, it says that an additional driver must have valid drivers license and sign an agreement. Then in small print it says there might be an additional daily charge but I can't find what that might be. There isn't anywhere on the reservation where you can add an additional driver.

Oh, here are the codes I used (from mousesavers). I had to use this exact combination to get the Midsize SUV available for the discount.

Corp ID: 7013843
Coupon Code: AD1336ADK

I just made my ressie with Alamo this weekend. I used the Walmart code to get the additional free driver. When you click Save Time on your ressie, it will ask for the additional driver information.

I'm not sure when you're going, but you may want to try the WalMart code from Mousesavers with AD3829MRB. It may be a better deal for you. I have a full size for 8 days for $163 (includes taxes and fees).

"Save Time" is that when you initially reserve the car or when you check in via online before you pick it up? I'll try the WalMart code but we're going in Jan 08 and if I recall it expires sometime in 2007. I'll check it out.

Anyone else know about the cancellation policy?

Did you give them a credit card number? If not, you don't really have to worry about the cancellation policy - though it is courteous to cancel once you know you won't use the reservation. I have a ressie with Alamo right now and have reserved with Dollar a number of times in the past, and have never had to give a credit card number to reserve.

Southern: Thanks for reminding me about the WalMart code!!! I tried it and I got a great rate plus an additional driver.

Colinsmom: You're right they can't charge you if they don't have your credit card number. I didn't realize you didn't have to give it at the time of booking.

I've reserved a Mid-Size SUV from Jan 11-21 for $230. I previously said it was $240 but I must have looked at it wrong. It was only $4 dollars more to go from a Mid-size to the SUV and only $10 to upgrade from a Compact. I think that seams like a good deal.

I used the following codes:
Corp ID: 430710 (WalMart)
$20 off Coupon: AD1336ADK

I do have another question: I signed up for the Alamo membership, when I did that it gave me a corp/ID #*******. When I went to make my reservation it automatically populated my ID # in the corp ID. I wanted to use the WalMart code so I had to delete my ID # and enter the WalMart ID. My question is: will this now require me to use the koiski or go to the desk instead of checking in online? Will my ID not be tied to my reservation now? One last thing....what is the difference between Alamo membership and ***********?

Using the $25 off coupon from the Entertainment book: http://www.alamo.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=AL_EntertainmentCom_25OffCoupon_2008

You can get the SUV for $224.84 total. Others have combined the $25 off with the Walmart contract ID so this should work for you.

Szymon

So I just need to print the coupon in the link? They don't care if you use a different contract ID than is on the coupon (like you said, to use the Walmart one instead)? I don't want to get there and have any surprises - I need the extra driver. Also, where are the other coupons in this thread coming from? I don't see them on Mousesavers? :confused3 Sorry I am so new to this! I currently have a midsize reserved at Budget, but if I can get an SUV for $13 more I would love it!

Thanks!

I don't think it matters. I booked mine and printed off the confirmation so I don't know how they couldn't honor it. This is my first time renting from Alamo, maybe someone else could put your mind at ease.

The WalMart code is from Mousesavers. The $25 off is from the 2008 Entertainment Book. Typically you have to purchase the book but it looks like someone has posted the link for us to use. Just be sure to print it off.

Be sure to find out what the charge is when you check in, and do the math before you agree to it. You get charged for that extra driver for every day of your rental, so for 10 days can pretty much negate what savings you've worked hard for.

I added the $25 off coupon to my Wal-Mart code existing reservation and it worked!!!!

It does say to print the coupon and present it, AND the extra driver is still FREE!!!:cool1:

Thank you szymon!!!

I enrtered the walmart code and it says coupon will expire prior to rental (3/18/08) HELP!!!

Call them up and tell them that you got a better deal from Budget, Dollar, etc. They gave me a price lower than anything I could have gotton on line. In fact, they offerred me $152 which was a good rate and I told them that it was still to high!
