Alamo at Shades of Green

We are staying one night at the Polynesian before our cruise. I just made reservations for a rental car from Alamo, choosing Shades of Green as the pick up location.

Two questions:

1 - How do we get to Shades of Green to pick up the rental car?

2 - I am not military, however, I read that you can only rent here if you are. No where on Alamo's web site stated this. Will I have a problem?

So, tell me your experiences from renting at this location. Thank you!

Wouldn't the disney car care centre be better it is next to the magic kingdom and has pick up and drop off services to all disney resorts it also is an alamo thats the rental spot we use

I went back, priced that location and thought of canceling the other. But it was almost doubled in price!

I've read that people who are not military or veterans have been able to go in and get a rental car without any trouble, most recently in this thread:

I suppose you could call the Alamo location directly. Or call Shades of Green. It's certainly possible that the intent is for the rental desk to only be accessible to military members staying at the resort, but in practice they don't actually stop people and check ID on the way in. How the resort feels about it would be worth knowing.

I am the diser that recently did this [early June] with no issues [per the link]. A few days prior to our trip I called National at the Shades of Green desk and inquired if there would be any problems since we were non-military. I hate surprises; she said no problem at all. I am very Type A and would not have pursued this if I suspected there would be an issue.

We have rented from there before. We just walked there from the Poly

We rented a car from SOG (National) in early May, they had a deal we couldn't pass up. It might have been the easiest rental experience we've ever had. We left CR and 20 minutes later had rented the car and was back at CR. You do not have to be military to rent from there. You can either get to the Poly and walk or take a cab.
