Aneille said:However he was badgered about insurance. Alamo wanted proof that we were insured. In Mass we don't carry insurance cards. Our insurance is listed on our actual car registration which we don't carry around with us. We were paying with AMEX which actually does cover us as well as a secondary insurance but my DH had to really argue with the girl at the desk he said. Finally he was let out without having to purchase insurance.
He said she claimed that FL. law states they need proof of insurance. I have heard of car rental companies asking for proof but I never heard it was a law. The next time we travel we will bring a copy of a car registration and I know have a .pdf file from Amex listing what they cover as well. Which I think is up to 50K, everything smaller than a minivan(they don't cover large SUV's like Suburbans) and they don't cover liability.
oh yes, i got this same exact spiel back in january at Alamo. however, i KNOW i am covered by my insurance so i declined. she kept trying to guilt me. i still declined. i wonder how many people actually fall for that?
