I'm getting an Alamo pre-pay quote for a 10 day minivan rental (driving from DE to WDW) of $404.xx... but it doesn't give me an additional driver fee in the total, just a comment that additional drivers must be completed at counter etc... how much this fee is & other than the Walmart code (which wouldn't work with this rate code) is there another way to get it waived?

Yeah, I tried to do something like that when I read the OP, and it seems that Alamo doesn't publish this fee. There are a few places that talk about what the fee is, in various cities, but it seems like Alamo is trying to keep very close tabs on how their rules and fees regarding additional drivers is communicated to customers. (Very interesting... I'd guess they've had some problems with customers disclaiming responsibility for something due to inadequate notification of the responsibility.)

When I picked up a car from Alamo in at TPA in February they wanted to charge me an extra $8 per day for my extra driver, but fortunately I had my confirmation with me which said it was already included. I had used a walmart code and when I booked on line it stated the extra driver was included. Using the Walmart code saved me $80 for the extra driver (plus the Walmart code was already $200 cheaper than any other code I had tried), so factoring that in, you have to see what your best deal is. Is the pre-pay savings better than the extra driver fee :confused3

The Costco code will give you the additional driver...

I had that problem with Hertz also. I rented a car there and had my boyfriend as an additional driver. They charged me $25 (I think, don't really remember) for an additional driver fee that no one mentioned. When I told them about it, they said it was on the contract (in the super small print) but refunded that money anyway.

I'm rarely ask to prove eligibility for any discount:AP, AAA, Entertainment Book, COSTCO etc. I never make a reservation for a discount I'm not entitled to use. I can almost always find a rate that's similar and I'd rather pay a few dollars more than run the risk of being charged the rack rate/list price/undiscounted price at the time of service. I always feel that I'd be the unlucky person who was the first victim under a new policy.

I always add my QS or EA (National) numbers to the ressie & have never been charged the additional driver fee = no matter what discount I use.

Haven't used Costco's yet though w/this system of reserving.

Ditto.
Same goes for mixing coupons & codes with Alamo. Seems to be a gray area, making it not worth the potential hassle and/or expense at picking up, imho.

I found out today that it's $8 per day - an Extra $80! I tried to use to use the Walmart code with the Rate Code I got the rate on but it made the rental go up to $899.99!!! I'd rather pay the $80... Unless someone has another idea?!
