Can anyone tell me when the Aladdin show in DCA leaves, and if we know what'll be taking it's place and when? TIA!:goodvibes

Aladdin is going to be replaced by a Toy Story show from DCL. Right now Aladdin is running an extended amount. It is likely that it may close soon in the fall slow season or after New Years. There is a lot of work to be done near the building other than switching out the shows.

I would suspect we will get a better idea in the next couple weeks of when stuff will happen as summer crowds end.

It was supposed to close today to have Toy Story the Musical take it's place, but there was too much of an uprising and Aladdin has been extended indefinitely.

The PP and I posted at about the same time, please note that this was the case, but Aladdin is officially staying for quite some time.

That is interesting...I have wondered the same thing as last year, we didn't make it to see the show and I was all geared up for it to be gone when we are there in November.

Where did you learn this? Not that I don't believe you. :)

The Disney Blog, as well as the AP newsletter both had the original closing date in them and the fact that Toy Story was replacing it.

As for where I learned about the change in plans...

Well, a few different places, one is on wdwinfo.com (which is affiliated with this board and it was one of the news items a while back on there).

One of the people that performs in Laughing Stock also runs a local Melodrama Theater here in Long Beach and we confirmed it with him.

In addition, this can also be confirmed on Disneyland.com by looking at dates on the calendar beyond today. It was listed through the end of September, but now appears to stop after Labor Day, I am wondering if they have changed their minds yet again and are going to stop after Labor Day.

This would make some sense, every show that they have put in there has ended on Labor Day and aside from Steps int Time, which opened with the park they all have started (unofficially) the weekend of Thanksgiving. I am going to have to look into this now, I will let you know what I find out.

After looking at the OFFICIAL park blog, it appears those dates may just be missing performances due to construction, see the article at:
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...nted-genies-run-extended-at-hyperion-theater/

I would still try to recommend seeing it before Labor Day, because Disney is notorious for changing their mind, if you want to see the final performance, I might even recommend seeing the last performance on Labor Day, as they might just decide to not bring it back (thus avoiding huge crowd issues for the final performance), they have done stuff like that before too.

A DIS'er spoke with a guest relations CM (or something, can't remember who) and was told that the Hyperion Theatre would be under refurb from something like September 6 to October 6 which would account for why it isn't showing on the calendar after Labor Day. I haven't seen or heard it confirmed anywhere else yet so I'm desperately keeping my fingers crossed that something changes otherwise I'll be SOL yet again.

My understanding is that Toy Story was put on hold indeffiently. I do think it is time for a replacement but I don't know if Toy Story is the place to go...Beauty and the Beast or Mary Poppins would be much better.

That DISer would be me. I was told by a guest relations CM than the Hyperion Theatre will be undergoing refurbishment from Sept. 7 - October 7. I am, of course, still hoping she was wrong, as DW and I will be at Disneyland in late Sept. :confused3
