Aladdin isn't closing!

Yipee! We are having a extended family trip in August and I know everyone would really enjoy this show. I thought that our trip in February would be the last time to see it....but I was wrong. Glad to be wrong this time!

Good decision Disney!

Great news, but this is really Disney trying to make a problem sound like a perk. Obviously they fell behind and decided to keep Aladdin around and make it sound as if they were giving in to popular demand.

Bottom line is good news though. Aladdin rocks! :cool1:

Cool. :woohoo:

So what is the best strategy for seeing the show? I don't have preferred passes or whatever they are called.

Show up 30 minutes before the show. You should be able to get a good spot. We have always opted for mezzanine. Some people like the seats on the floor.

ETA - No rest rooms in the theater so go before you get in line. If you have not seen it before be prepared to laugh until it hurts. If you have seen it before be prepared to laugh until it hurts. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Thank you as always!

Well, this is going to make the PS Aladdin list a little confusing since a few names were removed that were after the August 15 closing date. Gotta fix that now.

I just got a brochure in the mail today and it says Aladdin is closing and Toy Story is coming. This is quite a surprise. I'm glad though. I have no desire to see Toy Story.

Haha, totally forgot to say how excited I am though! I thought there would be no chance in h-e-double-hockey-sticks for me to see this again in September. Still not sure it will fit into my schedule, but I'm excited it's not a definite no any more.

I feel the exact same way hydroguy... you just beat me to the punch of saying it. That was the first thing I thought of as soon as I saw the post. LOL. Oh well, kudos to Disney for trying to make a positive thing out of it and not just pull Aladdin without anything to replace it.

I am so excited about this show! I think that we have priority seating (we book tru costco package is arriving tomorrow) does that means that I don't have to arrive 30 minutes before show? or should I stick to the 30 minute rule?
thanks

Just saw it for the first time last friday. Glad it will be around a while. That Genie is something else!:rotfl2:
We got there within the last 10 mins. We where way up in the Mezzanine, and our seats were fine, better than waiting for 30-60 mins in line with the 2 kids. Only missed a couple things that go on on the floor.

I'm kind of wondering if they might reconsider putting in the Toy Story musical at all. The entry didn't seem committed to Toy Story, IMO, and from a marketing standpoint it makes little sense to put in a musical based on Toy Story 1 to premiere well after Toy Story 3 and maybe even the DVD comes out. Plus the show just did not look like it would be nearly as grand as the gorgeous show they have--I'm sure it would be an OK show, but it's likely we'd only be able to see a few actors' faces and that would be a shame. I'd personally rather see a different show in the space.

The fact that they said they will be doing construction DURING the run of the show makes me wonder if they are saying they're planning OUTSIDE construction (like the Red Car Trolley) that may affect people getting into the show. If they were doing significant interior construction, I highly doubt they could continue the show.

Plus, Aladdin soaks up sizable crowds, and there will be big crowds in late August for WoC, won't there be?

Anyway, I'm not certain this is a sign that they're behind on anything, though that very well could be a factor. :)

Actually, our experience (during a December when it was very slow) was that we had to be there an HOUR early to get all set up to be there for preferred seating. The people in the standby line...well, there was no standby line when we had to stop by to get the PS stuff worked out. Standby showed up later.

Then we were held in the PS pen in the sun (our Dec trip that year was hotter than our Sept trip) until after all the standby people were seated. So we were in line much longer than they were.

I'm really glad it's been continued. I love Toy Story, but the thought of a musical based on it sounded so ridiculous I couldn't even deal with it.

We have a trip planned for September 12th-17th. Does it sound like it should be running at that time still? I really would love to see it!
