Alabama DVCers? -- Got 15?

Hey to all my fellow Alabamians! I'm originally from "the loveliest village " and currently reside in Heflin and work in Oxford.

To all the Bama fans-- we had a thumbs-up great visit to Tuscaloosa on Saturday! It was my first time to take in a game over there-- what a beautiful day & great atmosphere, I was impressed with the stadium addition/renovations-- I got choked up seeing Tyrone Prothro take the field. Your fans were quite hospitable helping me to get a parking place and then inviting us to tailgate. It was an all-around great experience which we'll long remember. Getting out of town afterwards, that's another story...

We're excitedly looking forward to our first Christmas season trip. We'll be at BCV (where we own) Dec.10-15 following an ASSports check-in on Dec. 9. I'm equally as excited because this morning I was able to get an II exchange to our co-favorite resort VWL for May 5-12. To the SSR owners-- we were also able to exchange into your resort this past August and I loved it. While I did miss the close access to a park-- I very much liked the close access to the restaurants of DD (Earl of Sandwich rules IMO), loved the pools and Artist's Point (good menu and the easels were a great diversion for our 3yo son).

Tadamom, if you're still out there, did you happen to know my aunt, Judy Bourne, she worked at Rogers for many years?

A blessed thanksgiving to all.

Small world - yes I know your aunt!!! I worked in shoes and as you know she was the buyer for the children's department. She was always soooo nice to me. Is she still working for Dillard's? I used to see her when I would go shopping at the mall.

Glad you had a good time at the game!! GO AUBURN!!!! (I just had to add that!)

Let's cut the Roll Tide crap, okay? This is a DVC board after all. :rotfl2:

Joking!

 Problem? Sorry if we offended!
:tigger: :tigger: :tigger: :tigger: :tigger: :tigger: :tigger: :tigger:

Where do you own DVC? How often do you travel? Do you fly or drive? When did you join? Do you use DVC to travel other than WDW? If so, where?

I hope this helps!

Live in Trussville, near Birmingham. Own at OKW and enjoy taking the grandkids every other year to WDW.

I honestly didn't know that I would be opening a can of worms!! My whole family are Alabama fans, so I do pull for the Crimson Tide if they aren't playing Auburn. It's all in good fun anyway!!!

I am from the Florence/Killen area!! Anybody else from that area?

I was born and raised in Florence and lived in Killen for a while.

I'm living in Birmingham now.

Just got back from my first trip last week (wife is an ex-CM) and this week we're in the process of buying at OKW!!!

Wish us luck!!!

Hey Alabama DVC'ers!

Have any of you guys used II for Gatlinburg, Orange Beach, Still Waters, etc.? How about a Disney Cruise? Have you been anywhere using points other than the 7 DVC resorts?

2nd Question

Where would you like to see new DVC resorts? Would you go?

I'm mainly thinking off property, but on property responses are good too! :surfweb:

DH wants to see one on the panhandle.

I would LOVE to see SanDestin added.

That is our favorite non-DVC/WDW place to stay!

ROLL TIDE!!!

Hey Kapeman:

I wouldn't be too worried that you said ROLL TIDE!!

I am very pleased to see that you are from Florence. I got my Bachelors degree from UNA!! You will find many other Florence folks on the Alabama DVCers thread. (I think that's cool too!)

Anyway, I think SanDestin would be a really neat place for a DVC. Have you seen the Club Intrawest property in San Destin in the DVC book? The points seem very reasonable and you can reserve for less than a week. I don't know what the place looks like though. There are also II exchanges for Gulf Shores and Panama City.

My folks love going to Gulf Shores and Gatlinburg. I think they would consider joining if they could DVC in one of those places.

I don't have the DVC book yet, so I didn't know about the about the San Destin or Panama City properties. That's good to know.

For 2007 this included Escapes at Orange Beach and something in Panama City.

I have read that the selections on the pan handle have been cut back drastically over the past few years, and I have no clue on how easy it is to make an exchange.

Many on the DISboards would argue that using exchanges are not good uses for your points. However, if you get to go somewhere that you wouldn't have otherwise, I say go for it! I think 7 points/night in Destin with 1 night minimum sounds pretty good. Good Luck!

That is very good information. Thanks!

I also agree that the point rates look pretty good!

Please come back and tell us how you enjoyed Williamsburg. My Dad loves driving on the interstate in Virginia on I81. Have a good time!

We live in Geneva which is a small town just outside of Enterprise/Ft. Rucker. We love the small town feel with the convenience of only being about an hour and 15 minutes away from Panama City Beach, FL.

I just wanted to say HI. My parents live in Dothan...that is where I am from. :goodvibes
