Al & Tipper Gore

They were married for a very long time. Even if they have been basically living separate lives for a while now, it's probably going to be quite a transition for them (and for their kids--adult kids are affected by their parents' divorce too). I'm not a fan of either of them, really, but I feel bad for them and hope they will come through okay.

Especially for their daughter Kristin, who filed for divorce from her husband almost exactly a year ago.

I'm sad about all divorces (barring abuse, cruelty or the like), especially when the couple has been married a long time. I like both of them and wish them well.

It said on the news that they've been together since high school. So, literally, they've been together ALL their adult lives. How do you go from that to being unmarried. It can't be easy, even if they've been estranged and living separately for a while.

One of my thoughts, too. Never would have believed the Clintons would outlast the Gores.

What do you mean, "why bother?" I'm assuming they both have many years left. Maybe they want to actively search for someone else. Maybe they just want to live alone. Maybe it's too painful for them to live together.

You know, oddly enough, I never thought Bill and Hillary would divorce (although, I could well be wrong still). I know it sounds crazy but I really think they love each other, in spite of appearances (though not in a gooey-eyed kind of way).

I don't like either of them but I was surprised by the announcement. I always thought they seemed to be in love.

Any time a marriage ends (for reasons other than abuse) it is sad to me.

If two people are in a bad marriage, I don't find the ending of their marriage sad in the least. Never understood that. If they are happier apart, well then I am happy for them.

I was a bit surprised, but then public/political life is a bit of smoke-and-mirrors anyway. Put on a good show for the public and all that.

Anyway, her share of the money that Al has made from this climate change / green energy initiatives/solutions (which can be purchased from his companies) the last few years should help dry some of the tears for Tipper.
