U.S. and Saudi authorities are searching for a missing American, that al Qaeda militants claim to have kidnapped after killing another U.S. citizen Saturday in Saudi Arabia's capital city, Riyadh.

Meanwhile, a Web site used by Islamic militants posted a video that claims to show the killing of Robert Jacobs, an American worker who Saudi authorities confirm was gunned down Tuesday at his Riyadh home.

Else where - :(

A senior official at Iraq's ministry of education has been shot dead in Baghdad.

Kamal Al-Jarrah, the ministry's director of public relations and cultural affairs officer, was gunned down in front of his home in the west of the capital as he left for work, said a ministry official on Sunday.

It was the second assassination of an interim government official in as many days.

Also in Baghdad a car bomb near a U.S. military installation killed 12 Iraqis -- eight civilians and four police officers -- and wounded 13 others in southeastern Baghdad, according to a coalition news release. :(

I saw this on the news....:worried: I keep trying not to watch news from Iraq, but I sometimes just can't help myself... I now keep a map of Iraq next to the computer so when something happens I know where it is that they are talking about.

I'm sorry to hear all of this! but not suprised.
Al Queda in Saudi Arabia-it is their home country!
GAWD, this just gets worse and worse!
Do I hafta stop reading the Community Board now!?
I've pretty much KO'd the news. I admit to getting
in on the last days of the Debate Board and am thankful
they(the powers) closed it and saved me lots of time.
VH, how about a literary post!? he he

:sad1: It's so terrible. Prayers for the victims and their families.

That's horrible, that's a shame.

The UK Foreign Office is allowing non-essential staff and dependents to leave its Saudi office. They can be flown back to London voluntarily, it announced on Sunday.

The move follows more attacks on foreign workers in Saudi Arabia and the claim on an Islamist website that an American had been kidnapped.

Security concerns have also prompted British Airways to instruct crews on flights from London not to stay overnight in Saudi Arabia.

The UK ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sherard Cowper-Coles, said he doubted the move would "send shock waves through the expat community" as it is similar to action taken by companies to protect employees and their families.

He told BBC News 24 that any Westerners who remain in the country, particularly Britons and Americans, "were duty bound to exercise maximise vigilance".
