Al Lutz Update Today: Pirate's Lair, Toy Story Mania and More

LOL, it says a lot of CM has quit, i beg to differ! ^_^

Free PIN??? I havent gotten anything yet!

Thanks Hydroguy! I love reading his articles!

WOW, so excited about all the "potential" new attractions/shows/landscaping coming to DCA in the future.

Love the idea of a "Cars" ride, and a double track is a really good idea for both rider capacity and an additional excitement element to the ride.

All the changes to the hardscape around Soarin' sounds wonderful too.

And yes, they do need an evening show at DCA, and by the looks of the mockups, it looks good to me!

In regards to Disneyland, I LOVED the sound of all the cool things planned for the island, especially the cannons that people can shoot, along with the collapsible chimneys on the buildings. That sounds both FUN and FUNNY!:lmao:

I wonder why they pushed back the announcement of a DL DVC? They must have too much on the table right now? Red tape maybe? Well, if they want to continue DVC sales at DL, and actually be successful, I hope they keep the current required number of points-per-night for a stay at one of the DL hotels where it is right now.

Anyway, it will be very interesting to see the coming changes at the parks.popcorn::

Wow I'm excited, I hope most of that actually happens!!

Thanks for the info Hydroguy - I can't wait for new stuff at DCA!!

You know, if they made the proposed new lagoon show at DCA more like IllumiNations, where you could watch it from anywhere around the lagoon, it would alleviate the visual and crowd problems that Al was talking about in his article. I think they could do that with the type of show that they're planning.

Just a thought.:)

Albort, from what I read, and I am serious here, you and the others CMs need to get a huge raise - at least 25% and maybe 50%. And that is just a start. You guys and gals do a great job and are underpaid and it sounds like many of you are forced to work overtime for many weeks in a row. Keep up the good work.

If you read some of the history, the water in the PP area is smaller than some folks wanted when DCA was being designed. With the small size, it may not be possible to do what you are suggesting.

One thing I found interesting is the crowd capacity for Fantasmic. I have read elsewhere that WDW's Fantasmic can accomodate more than DLR's, but it appears that is far from the truth. Al says that DLR Fantasmic can handle 16,000. I seem to remember that at WDW MGM they can seat 5,000 in the stadium.

yea, but what you going to do anyways, you get used to it. I really think its just a problem of scheduling. I used to get Friday shifts every week, for the past 4 weeks, i havent been scheduled a Friday shift. I also think the benefits cover over...

but thanks! :)

I agree, that is interesting. On allearsnet I read that the Hollywood Hills amphitheatre has seating for 6500, but the DLR Fantasmic has room for 10,000. Unfortunately we never got a chance to watch Fantasmic or see the inside of the amphitheatre last week when we were at MGM. Too many other things to do!:thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing - love to learn about DL as much as I can. I did not like, however, all the "stale" remarks about WDW though. . . especially about SM when I hear from so many people (even here) that the one in the MK is "better".

All the changes at DCA seem cool. . .although i haven't even seen it in it's current form.

But that wouldn't address the smoke issue mentioned in the article. . . its a tough one!

I believe that's why the proposed show is one mainly of dancing waters/fountains and laser projections. Fireworks are to be used minimally "because" of the smoke problem they had in the past. So, it looks like they already addressed that problem.:thumbsup2

That's why I felt that people could watch the show from anywhere around the lagoon.

Oops, it looks like maybe a few people are confused about what I was saying.

I didn't mean that the new show at DCA should be the same as IllumiNations. I was only referring to the ABILITY to be able to WATCH THE SHOW from anywhere around the water (just like you can when watching IllumiNations).

Why wouldn't you be able to watch a dancing fountains/laser projection show from anywhere around the lagoon at DCA?:confused3

I understood what you meant originally, and was just pointing out that DCA might have more flexibility to use its lagoon for shows if it was bigger. In any case, if the show is designed accordingly there is no reason it cannot be viewed from anywhere around the lagoon.

Al has something critical to say about most everything Disney, which some will say is only because he is trying to hold them to a high standard they have reached in times past. In any case, I did not take Al's comment about SM to mean it is not as good as DL's (it definitely isn't) but only that it is in need of a major refurb like DL's is getting right now.

I see what you're saying now.:goodvibes I just got concerned that, after what Adi12982 said, maybe others were also confused about what I meant.
I just wanted to make sure that no one thinks that I want the shows to be alike - only the way they are viewed by spectators.:thumbsup2

I LOVE these updates! The days of low crowds in DCA are numbered with all of those new plans. I'm so excited to hear that ride is going to be Toy Story! I didn't know that! It's about time they do something for Toy Story, it was such a hit, with how popular the Buzz ride is I suspect this one will be too! How exciting! :)

I also agree they seriously need to pay the CM's more, and do things to up the morale among all the CM's. Maybe they'll actually keep more for longer then 90 days this way.
