Al Lutz Big Update: Cars Land, D23 Expo, MM and increased hours at DCA

They missed a good opportunity for a new restaurant in Carlsland. A drive-in theme, like the Sci-Fi Drive In Restaurant at Hollywood Studios would have been perfect!

I totally agree. As I understand it such a restaurant was planned and still is. It just got delayed based on other priorities.

Hmm...if they do that, will no one be able to enter the land who hasn't arrived first thing in the morning to pick up a FP? I can hear the cries now from the local crowd who had a fit about WOC FPs.
In preparation for a trip this past Spring, I used to daily monitor the "Harry Potter Crowd Report Thread" in the DIS Universal Forum. And not once did I see a post that return tickets ever ran out. Instead, I usually saw posts that crowd restrictions to WWoHP were lifted late in the day, around 5 or 6pm, as attendance began to subside to tolerable levels. Not saying it could happen--or that even Disney will implement a system like this--but that's how Universal kept crowds manageable in the most popular section of the park.

Note, "manageable" is a relative term. As anyone who has been to WWoHP on a busy day can attest to. :rotfl:

Regarding a drive-in type restaurant for Carsland. I echo Hydroguy's post. Rumors (reported by Al) had a restaurant planned for Carsland but was pulled primarily to allocate those funds to the attractions. A restaurant is probably still in the long-term plans, although that's just a guess. I agree that it would have been perfect for that land! :goodvibes

Hmm interesting update. I am going to have to get with my co-worker about the Carthay Circle project, as she is working on the part time. I don't really like the idea of another member only restaurant or lounge.

And as excited I am about Carsland, it just sounds like a headache already. FP for just getting into it sound crazy and it likely to draw a lot of people away from the hassle of it all.
