I was planning on buying a 100 point contract at BWV or BCV then adding on at BLT. But now I am thinking of AKV since the expiration is not until 2057 and they also have some low point value rooms. I prefer to stay at BWV or BCV but do not know how hard it is to get a room at 7months? It wouldn't break my heart if we stayed at AKV though ;) So what do you think of AKV and how hard is it to get inot BWV or BCV

It depends on the time of the year and the villa size/booking category you want.

If you have your heart set on either a standard view or a Boardwalk view at the BWV, you need to own there. It's possible (but still not probable) to get those views at 7 months in the slower times (for DVC, not necessarily same as slower for park attendance), but there's no guarantee.

If you want a dedicated 2 bedroom unit with 2 queen beds in the second bedroom at BCV, same thing. You need to own there.

In general, BCV & BWV are very tough at 7 months from October - the first week of January. Holiday weeks and weekends are also difficult. You will need to call exactly 7 months prior to your desired check in date as soon as MS opens for the day (9 am Eastern). You will have lots of competition for the space available at 7 months. Lots of other members also want to switch to BCV and BWV (and VWL) at 7 months. There are more who want to switch than there is space at these smaller resorts for most times of the year.

If you don't mind staying at AKV if BCV or BWV is not available at 7 months, then it really doesn't matter. If you can't or won't call exactly at 7 months, then it won't matter.

It's really a personal thing - you are the only one who knows how strong the preference is for BCV & BWV.

Good luck with your decision.

I think that BWV and BCV are harder to get at 7 months during Food & Wine in October. I am not sure about the rest of the year.

The deals right now for AKV are pretty good and if you ever want to stay concierge, then you certainly want to own there.

And, if you would be okay staying at AKV, if the other two were booked, then I would say consider making AKV your home resort.

Of course, you can always add on at those other resorts in the future (just you plan to at BLT).

And, I did read that someone, a new member, was just allowed to get their 160 new member contract split between both BLT and AKV (120 and 40) and still get them at the 160 price per point...I believe they got BLT at $98.00 and AKV at $96.00, the price with a member referral.

Good luck!

I guess I'm down to AVK or BWV. I like BWV location and the low points for stadard view but AVK value has even lower points (with possible savana view) and the expiration in 2057. Do not know why I/m worried about the expiration since I would be 69 when they expire :lmao:

What's the difference in price point between AVK and BWV? And, what are you talking about - - you'll be 69 years YOUNG when the contracts expire...still spry enough to be chasing your grandchildren around Fantasyland. :thumbsup2

I sent you a PM a few days ago, did you get it?

AKV is a great resort and they did a good job on Kidani. I was very impressed. As time goes on I see AKV becoming even more popular.

LOL!!!! I'm in my 60's now, and we purchased AKV when it first became available. I'll be 94 when our original OKW contract expires, and That means I'd be about 115 when our AKV contract expires! I'm looking forward to leaving both to my "children" who will be in their mid 60's to 70 at that time.

Have you visited any of the DVC resorts and seen the accommodations you are interested in? I'd suggest you do that or at least research it well online before making your decision. Location isn't the only thing to think about. For example: we really do NOT like BWV at all, and even the location doesn't change that for us. I just dislike staying there. We aren't too fond of any of the layouts of BWV, BCV, VWL, and SSR. They don't work as well for us, but that might be because we got spoiled with OKW for so many years first. When AKV came on board, I KNEW I needed to own at least some points there, since I knew I would want savanna view for sure. Now that I have stayed there several times, I KNOW I want to get concierge level as often as I can! I also know I don't think the Jambo units work too well for us other than having the great savanna views, so my minimum number of points there is just right for us.

You also need to take into account the maintenance fee costs. BLT is currently the lowest fees, but there is no guarantee they will always be the lowest. BWV is traditionally quite high on fees, and OKW and SSR are traditionally on the lower end. AKV is always going to be higher than many because of the maintenance issues with the savannas and the animals.

My advice is to buy a resale at a resort you wouldn't mind having to stay at if you couldn't get into anything else. You should probabliy choose one that has lower fees unless you really know you want to get Value at AKV. Since there are few value rooms, it will likely be necessary in the future to have home resort privledges there to get that catagory.
