Akv-wifi?

There is no WiFi provided by Disney at any of the resorts (although BWV had it in the lobby at one time - not sure if it still exists). All internet connections are via hard wire, you can create your own WiFi if you bring a wireless router.

Thanks for the information! It's better to leave the lap tops at home! A week free of email, online games and Facebook!!!

It's 9.95 for 24 hours of online time...if you are DVC then it's free. Just to let you know!

I am DVC. So, there is WIFI at AKV, DVC it's free and everyone else has to pay, hmmmm, something to think about it!

Just to clarify....posters are assuming that by 'wi-fi', you mean wireless internet access - no cables involved.

Disney does not provide wi-fi (wireless) in any resort room. They provide wired internet access in all resort rooms; the ethernet cable is supplied and is in a pouch in the closet.

For DVC members staying on points, there's no charge for wired internet access in your room. For non-members, it's $9.95/24 hour period.

Absolutely correct.

IF you had a spare wireless router you could bring your own with you, plug it into the wired access point in your room and get WIFI in your villa.

Wi-Fi - has this changed?

Usually people want wifi in their rooms, not just in the public areas, though.

OP, if you want to bring the laptops, all you have to do is plug the provided cord into your laptop and you'll be online. (OK sometimes there's a portal page to go through that makes the DVC owner nervous that they'll be charged)

We are planning a family trip with a total of 3 rooms all on our points. I know that if I log in as a DVC member it is free. If our siblings log in from their own rooms (rooms in their name with our points), I assume it is still free since the room was booked on points?

As you are a traveling member with them, their internet access is also free. Just booking on points (ie. Rental of Points) doesn't give the guest free Internet.
