We typically stay at the POP or POR but are thinking of renting DVC points for a studio room this year. Those would be in the Villas & not the Lodge, correct? We're also wondering about the QS dining. Is The Mara like the food courts in the other resorts & where is it located? I'd hate to book a room & have to walk a country mile to get there. The children would probably turn their noses up at Sanaa or Boma (even though I'm dying to try them!) so we tend to patron the food courts a lot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Animal Kingdom has 2 parts of the resort. There is Jambo which has Mara and is a mix of DVC villas and the regular resort rooms. There is also Kidani that is all DVC but does not have the CS place to eat. If you rent points you can have the reservation made at Jambo instead of Kidani if you want to be close to Mara.

You get to use the pools at both though and there is a shuttle that runs between them!

A studio will sleep four with a queen sized bed and a double sleeper sofa. If you have five (I'm looking at your photo) you'd need a one bedroom at a minimum with one king bed, one queen sleeper sofa and the twin sized sleeper chair (at AKV). In Jambo House, the villas are located on the fifth floor.

Mara is not like the food courts. It is a counter service restaurant, so it is smaller. The Deluxe resorts don't have large food courts like the Value and Moderate resorts.

This next trip will be mother & son only. Haven't tried that yet - hopefully it will be nice & peaceful. I didn't realize the deluxe resorts don't have food courts - good to know. I'm thinking of renting DVC points next year & AKV seems to be a perfect fit for us. I'm trying to learn everything I can about it before booking. Still so much to learn......

Check out the sticky threads at the top of the Rent/Trade Board (you need to be logged in to see the board). They will give you lots of information about "renting points" which is really purchasing a reservation from a member that they made with their points. So you need to be very sure on your dates and location because changes and cancellations might not be possible.
