Hello fellow DVCers!

We will be staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani in a 2bedroom villa for my son's 1st birthday for 2 weeks. We would like some of our Miami family to come up and celebrate with us. Is it allowed for visitors to come and visit us in our room? Also, we would like to do a BBQ and decorate one of the benches in the BBQ area for his birthday and have our family join us, is that allowed? Also, do they check magicbands at the Kidani pool? I have family that are DVCers and will be staying at another resort, are they able to use the pool with us? Will they just need to show them their DVC card or will they need the magicband? Also, for the family members staying off-site, should we add them to our reservation so they are able to use the pool? I know we can have up to 9 guests and infant (right?) in a 2 bedroom, we are 6 and an infant. Sorry for all the questions, we've never had anyone visit us at a resort and i want to make sure we have all the info needed.

Thanks in advance!

I can say visitors are allowed. if you are not on the dining plan, add them to the reservation and then they can use the pool and do anything else with you,

In terms of the other DVC members, if pool hopping is allowed at AKV...I’m not sure...they won’t have a problem.

We tend to vacation over the weekend - W-W - and our FL located daughter would often drive up to join us for Friday and Saturday night. We usually didn't add her to the reservation. We would stop by concierge to say she was visiting to get the windshield paper that allowed her to park in the owners lot.

You can have visitors but need to provide, before they come, identifying info to front desk/security so they can get past security. As to "checking" magic bands at Kidani pool, someone actually needs a band showing they are staying in an AKL room to get into the pool area as it has a fence around the area and you need to go through one of the entry gates to get in. As to actually checking within the pool area, that is a matter of discretion of the ones working in the area and is not usually done unless there is a real crowd problem, e.g., if by "some family members" you mean a large crowd, there is a risk that checking could be done. Pool hopping is allowed to the AKL pools so a DVC member and family staying elsewhere on site can use the AKL pools subject to usual restrictions (e.g., many holiday times are excluded). As to decorating the barbecue area bench, I do not know the answer.
