AKV Value Waitlits came through!

I'm trying to save points because I have decided to spend January in Florida, using DVC points, and so I had a 4 night standard studio for friends in September and waitlisted for "value." I'll be there with 3 others in a 2 bedroom value and figured if I could get "value" for the studio, we would be near each other, and 8 more points to use in January will come in handy. DH just got the e-mail that the waitlist came through.

Now, I have no idea why the new reservation came to him since every other DVC/Disney e-mail comes to my account, but I'm so glad it worked out for us.

This waitlist was not made exactly at 7 months out. It's for a Sunday to Thursday stay.

Glad to hear your WL came through. Hope January will be warmer this year than last. It was rather cool this past year but at least much warmer than RI was at the time. I will be trying to switch resorts on Wednesday the 4th from BCV to AKV Kidani and expect we may end up on a WL since it is for that first week in Dec. Either resort is okay with me but DS wants AKV for DGD - at least that is what he says - AKV is his favorite so think maybe he is trying to influence her at a young age (3).

Yes, we were lucky to get a Treehouse from a waitlist for a long Halloween weekend come October.

We are waitlisted for a treehouse for Dec 2 & 3. I hope we get it now that the 7 month window is opening up for our travel dates. Maybe someone booked in a treehouse wants to move to another resort!

Whenever I've had to waitlist for a value studio, fortunately, it's come thru in a short period of time, and I'm so glad for you that yours did too. Have fun!

The concierge studio that DSis and I are in the same general area as the value studios with savannah view, and yes, we were lucky too...great animal viewing!

DH and I will drive down before NYE (We'll be at the BWV for that time, it's so great walking to/from Epcot and enjoying the festivities!) and he will stay through Marathon Weekend. I will have 3 weeks in Florida after that, either in WDW or at VB, and in each place, I'll have 1 DF with me. DH will come down toward the very end of January and we'll stay with DS's family for 2 nights and then go on a Carnival cruise, to Honduras and Belize. Then we'll drive home together. So, I'm still planning to work the fall and spring quarters at UC, but I just don't do well in snow/ice either walking or driving, so I'll be gone for Ohio's January!!

The value rooms are great for point savings, and in this case, I invited some DGFs and knew that I had to use as few points as possible because of January's stay and the whole family is doing something for Marathon weekend. That long weekend will be using just about as many points as the rest of January. We're hoping to get into BLT as we did the last time we were there for the Marathon, but AKV with a savannah view is fine too, the DGC love seeing the animals from the balcony! One other thing, in 2010 January in Florida was cold, very cold, and there was ice on the boat dock at the Contemporary...but it's the ice and snow all around that I most dread, so whatever the weather, I'm one happy person!

I wonder if I have enough points to ever stay a whole month at disney? I am originally from MA and hate the cold too. I was so happy when 4 years ago we moved to the south! Not to mention it is only a 6 hour drive to Disney!

Well, in April, the Boston branch of our family, (Melrose MA) moved to Fish Hawk Ranch, in the west part of Florida! This is something they have wanted to do for quite a few years. Today, our DGC begin school in their new classes! They are now an hour away from Disney, and the points that we bought to share longish trips with them have suddenly been freed up a bit, since they no longer have expensive air and they can go for short periods, and so, our DVC will be used differently than we thought just a year ago.

I'm glad you're happy in your new home state, too!

I do not think we'll be moving to Florida, and we find ourselves putting off full retirement (I work p/t) because of the economy.

Maybe we will meet over the Marathon weekend.
