Question..

I know the value studios accommodate 4 people. Can you also add a baby under age 3?

Yeah I know it's small. It's for a friend of mine. It's my friend and her mother, her 2 girls and a baby. 9 points a night is such a great deal for at $10pp. I would be willing to squeeze into 315 sq feet for $90/night!

Not a value studio, but my sister-in-law and her family stayed in a AKV studio with two adults, two children (3 & 6) and a 3 month old. It was so cramped with the bed, pull-out and pack-n-play open. I couldn't imagine it in a value room, it would be even tighter.

If cramped is OK, I think the value studios at AKV are the best "bang for the buck". I don't know about the impact of the size difference since I've always been solo when I've stayed in them.

A AKV value is about 50 square feet less then a regular AKV studio, so about 3.5 shorter across the entire width of the room.

If they are prepared to be squished you can do it. Just hope no one has to go the bathroom when the bed is out and pack and play is up. :rolleyes1

I talked to her about the size today and she said it doesn't bother her. She said for the price she'll deal with the smallness! Families of 2 adults/2 small kids and one baby squeeze into other rooms on WDW property that are small. At least she'll be in a deluxe resort! :)

Actually, you may want to call MS and check. I dont believe they allow 5 in a value at all. I recall having an issue when I was trying to book a value for friends with 2 year old twins and a 5 year old. MS would not let me do it all, said max occupancy for values is 4 total.

Hmmm..I would have argued or asked to speak to someone else. I just checked our 2009 and 2010 planner and it says "Jambo House Studios feature one full bathroom and a kitchenette, and accommodate up to four Guests, plus one child under age three in a portable crib. Each features a queen-size bed and double-size sleeper sofa." Then at the bottom of the page it says "Actual room size will vary depending on room location." That's from the 2010 planner, page 40. I've been searching all day and can't find anything in writing stating they won't allow a baby in a value studio. The square footage is the same as a room at POR. We are booked at POR for a free dining package next August. All 6 of us, Me + DH, the 3 older kids and the baby! All 6 of us are squeezing in there!

I'm going to call MS tomorrow and see what they say. Stay tuned! :surfweb:

Were those value villas once hotel rooms at AKL? Why are they physically smaller then the other rooms at the hotel? Does anyone know what their room occupancy was before they changed to DVC? That would make them deluxe hotel rooms the same size as moderate resorts. Man I would have been mad to pay all that money for AKL and get a moderate sized room!

All of the DVC Units in Jambo House are converted hotel rooms.

All of the rooms along the Ostrich Trail and Giraffe Trail are about 3 feet smaller than the other rooms at AKL. This applies to both the DVC Value units and regular AKL hotel rooms. The Values take make up a little more than half of the total rooms on 5th floor of the Ostrich & Giraffe Trails.

Before the conversion, Jambo House had deluxe rooms that slept five and standard rooms that slept four. Most of the rooms on the fifth floor were deluxe rooms that were converted to villas. But there were a few standard rooms that because of the design of the building could not sleep five. Thus, the Value Villas.

Great News! I called MS this morning and was able to book a value studio for my friend! It's going to be her and her mom..and her two of her kids! I'm so excited for her! They've never been to WDW before! I showed her pictures of Jambo House and she's so excited!
